Anthony Truchard was on hand to present a few wines from his family's winery. Anthony was personable, engaging and pleasant.

2009 Truchard Roussanne USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros

The cuttings for Truchard's Roussanne came from Beaucastel in 1997. Production is typically 800-900 cases, though there was a litle less in 2009. Twenty percent is aged in new oak for 6 months.

Pale yellow color. Florally, with clay and pear notes too. Well-balanced with rich fruit on the palate. Good length on the finish. A great little bottle- impressive. 89-90 pts.

2008 Truchard Chardonnay USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros

Average production of 3,300 cases, about 30% malolactic.

Pale yellow color. Notes of banana, coconut and honeysuckle. Flavors of butter, apple, coconut and oaky spice. Nice underlying acidity, finishing with hints of citrus and vanilla. 87-88 pts.

Average production of 3,300 cases. Ruby/garnet color with notes of cinnamon, black cherry and cranberry compote. Flavors of black cherry, mint and clove, with nice acidity. Cherry tones carry through the finish.

Inky crimson/garnet color. Jammy blackberry, white pepper, vanilla and olive aromas. High acid level; flavors of dark fruit, clove, pepper and red fruit.

Dark purple color. Notes of blue fruit, meat, pepper & dark fruit. Tannins are soft; flavors of smoky dark fruit fall a bit short on the finish. 86-88 pts.

A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petite Verdot.

Opaque crimson color. Aromas of milk chocolate, blackberry and cassis, with a subtle smoky/meaty quality. Flavors of currants, pomegranate and berries.

Production of roughly 200-300 cases when botrytis sets in.

Deep yellow color. Notes of marmalade, apricot and honey. Rich, viscous texture; flavors of marmalade, baked apricot, quince and fig paste. Long finish. Seems a bit flat, but has some good fruit.
