The only decent wine of the night. Distinctively chenin with a woolly qualtiy, some citrusy fruit, a dollop of honey, and something I'm told is called "quince" (I've never figured out what that actually is). This is a bit dominated by the acid and it's on the austere side (although it's not particularly mineral), but it fattened up a bit with some air. I liked it, but this lacks the density of fruit one would hope for in a better vintage.

I didn't mind the tropical fruit. I didn't mind the vanilla. I didn't even mind the coconut, and this has a nice dense presence on the tongue. But good chardonnay should not smell like cotton candy.

There's some lovely scents of cool dark fruit and mint off the bat, but I agree with dzop that the wine is so full of bitter, drying tannin that it's distinctly unpleasant to drink. I'd say put it away for several years but I'm not sure the tannins will ever resolve, or if there will be anything left when they do.

Marred by brett. I think there's some good stuff underneath, but it was hard to tell under the band aids and fecal character. Disappointing as I've liked the other 09 Baudrys I've had and I was looking forward to trying this.

There's nothing wrong with this wine unless you don't like pinot that tastes like cola. It's got some nice cola-y fruit, enough acid to keep it from being cloying, a bit of oak that's not overwhelming. But I don't like pinot that tastes like cola.

Oak oak oak. There may have been some nice red Chambolle fruit hiding under there somewhere but this smelled like vanilla and tasted like grainy oak barrels. I have an extremely low tolerance for wines that have that grainy oaky texture, and I couldn't stand this.
