From magnum. Lemon and lime on nose with rich brioche. Crisp lemon and lemon peel on the palate with bracing acidity and minerality. This became increasingly lush as it got some more air, without losing any of its energy and intensity.

From magnum. Good floral start with big aromas of lemon and lemon oil. Palate starts with orchard fruit, finishes with precise lemon flavors. Good acidity and textures throughout to long finish. Not quite as powerful as the best bottles I've had. Still showing some upside potential.

Lots of ripe peach aromas with new oak spice, also showing more advancement and maturity than other better bottles. Ripe peach flavors with big, lush spice. Wonderful minerality, less precise acidity from this bottle tonight.

Aromas of dried rose petals with Rainier cherry complemented by charming mature aromas. Same red cherry and earthy flavors with some licorice on palate. At its peak today, precise and persistent, but just moderate power and length.

Floral start with some great fresh forest aromas with fresh red and black cherries. All elements continue from nose onto palate with good licorice and tarragon. Very vibrant and youthful at almost thirty years old with lots of acidity and fine, elegant tannins. Great textures, spice and length. Really wonderful.

Great floral start showing rose and gardenia, along iwth bright red fruit and just the faintest hints of maturity starting to emerge. Rich red cherry flavors with elegant spice and surprising spice that sneaks up at the finish. Long life going forward.

Good spice aromas with hints of black fruit, plenty of earthy maturity. Mostly earthy flavors on palate, very clean and interesting with some good supporting Asian five spice, but clearly on the back nine.

Sensational ripe red fruit aromas along with baking spice and floral elements in the background. Palate shows fresh, ripe red cherry with the same baking spice elements. Very accessible today, just entering its peak drinking window. Long and powerful finish highlights the wine's spice and energy.

From magnum Aromas of black cherry, plum, licorice, then some roses in the background. Massively structured on palate, hard to really enjoy or assess. Great spice on finish with signs of black fruit as well. Give this plenty of time.

Great aromas of dried rose, cocoa powder and mature black fruit. Palate was less alluring, with simpler fruit, somewhat dried out, leaving a more structured finish. 94 point aromas with 86 point flavors.

Great aromas just a notch over the 1970 in the next glass, but with far superior flavors. Nose shows dried rose petals, ripe plum and currant, dark chocolate, hints of leather. Ripe black fruit flavors, very well balanced with tannin and acidity. Long and powerful finish. Still getting better.

Aromas of red and black cherry dominated by cigar box aromas. Reasonably mature bottle showed slightly drier than I would have expected. Very earthy, tobacco orientation on moderate finish.

Red and black cherry aromas with lots of cigar box. Nicely matured flavors come through with hints of remaining black cherry flavors and tobacco elements behind very clean well reduced mushrooms. Good earthiness and textures into good finish with good length.

Very good black fruit aromas with lingering new oak spice helping provide good perfume. Ripe flavors of black cherry and plum with vanilla and dark chocolate, then good spice emerging on moderately long finish. Less exciting and intense than I recall when tried a few years back, so I doubt this is getting any better.

Ripe black fruit on palate with plenty of oak and cedar. Same very flavorful fruit on palate, ultra ripe, with plenty of new oak spice coming through as well. Clear signs of heat dominate the finish.

Aromas of plum, cassis and plenty of new oak spice. Very flashy, very ripe, sexy fruit flavors, showing plum, black currant and blackberry. Fruit is very powerful, nicely balanced with big, powerful tannins. Good concentration, length and balance, even if not particularly charming elegant.

Great tropical fruit aromas accompanied by candied ginger and candied orange rind. Cornucopia of flavors continue onto the palate with some great toasted macadamia nuts. Great acid and great minerality make this even more exciting into long, energetic, textured finish.

Super-ripe peach and apricot aromas that continue on to the palate, but somewhat one-dimensional and short, seeming rather flabby on finish. But perhaps it's just unfair to compare any Botrytis-based sweet wine to d'Yquem 2001.

Good black fruit but somewhat short and simple. Not obvious, but many thought this slightly corked.

Sensational fruit and perfumed aromas. Intense, powerful black fruit. great concentration. Still on the ascent.
