Introduction

This was a wonderful night of drinking with new friends. The service was great, the food was really good, and the friendships developed were better. I had a great time with Darin, Katherine, and Kristin. They were great company and it was a very enjoyable night.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2008 Enkidu Sauvignon Blanc Kick Ranch USA, California, Sonoma County
88 points
Nice nose still with grassy, chives, citrus, gooseberry. On the palate, grapefruit, lychee, chives. Dryer on the finish than past bottles, must be losing fruit. I will drink the rest of them over the next few months.
White - Off-dry
2010 Dönnhoff Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
92 points
Tasted with food. Great nose, hints of petrol, green apple, underripe pear, slate, citrus flowers, hints of lime. On the palate, more full and fat than the nose leads you to be believe. Ripe pear, apple, hints of mineral and citrus. Great racy finish. Everything is a little disjointed right now, but this going to be killer in the future. A good one to hold for 10 years+ but it drinks very well right now.
White
2009 Saint Cosme Condrieu France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Condrieu
90 points
Beautiful nose. Apricot, lychee, pineapple, peach pit, honeysuckle, white pepper. The palate is not quite as interesting with lychee, peach, white pepper, mineral. Bone dry on the finish. This is a 92 on the nose and 88 on the palate, I'll split the difference. Has the bones to improve with a few years of age on it.
Red
2004 Joseph Swan Vineyards Pinot Noir Trenton Estate USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
92 points
VA nose which blew off quickly. After that, black cherry, cola, clove, cranberry, mushroom, and forest floor on the nose. On the palate, a little heavy, but great flavors of black cherry, cola, black tea, spice, mushroom. Finishes nice without noticeable heat. Good showing for this wine.
Red
1985 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve USA, California, Napa Valley
94 points
WOTN. Classic cab nose of tobacco, mint, red currants, graphite, sour cherry. On the palate, red currant, mint, tobacco, sour cherry, hints of herbs. Long finish with great balance and grip. Everything you want in an old cab.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2003 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
93 points
Paired with creme brulee. This had a great nose of honey, apricot, pineapple, and nice botryis aromas. On the palate, thick and full with apricot, honey, orange peel, hints of pineapple. Finishes long but a little heavy, lacks the lift needed to boost it higher. Probably drinking as well as it could have tonight
