Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2010 Alamos Chardonnay Argentina, Mendoza
86 points
Medium(-) lemon, curtain-like tears at 13.5%abv. Developing nose of peach, stonefruits, vanilla, oak. Off-dry, medium acidity, medium body and medium(+) alcohol. Medium flavours of peach, butterscotch, herbs, vanilla, oak. Medium length, viscous mouthfeel, and medium finish. Balanced, but could use more fruit flavours and acidity too balance the domineering secondary flavours.
Red
2011 Bodega Enrique Foster Malbec Ique Argentina, Mendoza
86 points
Deep ruby, long narrow tears. Medium developing aromas of red cherries, brambles, jam. Off-dry, medium(-) acidity, low tannis, medium body and medium(+) alcohol. Medium flavours of red cherries, spice. Medium length, some bitter tonesm in the mfinsih. Balanced, no complexity, fruit-forward, simple structure and a bit rustic in appearance without the barnyard. Not sure what cellaring will add. Juicy, pop and enjoy.

Sweetness-acidity balanced yet I like a bitmore acidity. Medium(+) flavours of honey, peach, jasmine, mint. Medium length and nice clean finish, not long lasting. Simple, straight and focused on enjoyment.

Red
2008 Bodega Norton Privada Mendoza Argentina, Mendoza
90 points
Too late in the night to take systematic notes. A great wine, complex nose of black ripe fruits, oak, tar, pencil shavings. On the palate this medium dry wine displays medium(-) acidity and medium tannins, full body, complex flavours of ripe dark fruits, tobacco, vanilla, layered. Long length with complex finish and a clean cut. Goes very well with the Asado dish. WOTN.
