Introduction

Our monthly lunch...always wines are delivered "freestyle" and blind...as always some nice surpises are guaranteed!

Flight 1 - As always a sweet start.... (1 note)

White - Sweet/Dessert
1976 Château d'Yquem France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

0.75l bottle: Bright golden color. Nose of dried apricot, safran and a hint of malt. Very elegant in the finish. Flavors of apricot again, with a nice mineralic finish. Wonderful wine. Drink now - 2045.

Flight 2 - 1950s and 1960s (2 notes)

Intensive red. Nose of leather, berries and earth. Very balanced and has some complex structure for a 1997. Now wonderful to drink. Not a big wine but a surprise for a difficult vintage. Drink - 2020

Bright purple. Nose of cooked berries, vanilla and cassis. Very elegant for the vintage. This is a wine that can be drunk now but will last for a few more years. Drink - 2020.

Deep red and youthful color. Leathery nose with a bit of boisenberry and herbs. Not as overloaded as many Chilean Cabs. Pleasant finish of dark fruit and coffee. What a surprise and a nice argument against my bias againts Chilean cabs. At an early maturity stage. Put aside for a few more years. Drink 2015 - 2025.

Bright red. Alcoholic nose, burnt red berries, herbs, a bit peppery and hints of vanilla / chocolate. for the 16.5 Vol. Alc. still fairly elegant. Flavors of ripe berries and long finish. Big wine...Drink - 2025.
