Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2012 Le Vieux Pin Ava Canada, British Columbia, Okanagan Valley, Okanagan Valley VQA
88 points
No formal notes. Blend of marsanne, roussanne and viognier. Floral nose with nice acidity. Nose shows a lot of viognier character. Very good.
Red
2011 Le Vieux Pin Syrah Cuvée Violette Canada, British Columbia, Okanagan Valley, Okanagan Valley VQA
87 points
Obvious syrah nose with blacker fruits, floral notes and some pepper. Chewy tannins but not loads of structure here. There's some oaky notes that linger on the finish but the oak isn't noticeable anywhere else. Should be a really nice 3-5 year wine. Good. 87+

2010 Le Vieux Pin Syrah Canada, British Columbia, Okanagan Valley
89 points
Meatier nose than the Cuvee Violette with more complexity as well. Crunchy red fruits on the palate with nice earthy and herbaceous notes too. There's a good deal of rusticity and structure here and this comes across as more 'old world'. A noticeable step up from the Violette. Give this a few years. Very good. 89+
Red
2011 Le Vieux Pin Syrah Canada, British Columbia, Okanagan Valley
88 points
Nice dusty nose with pepper and darker fruit that's somewhat similar to the 2011 Equinoxe nose. A little lighter and less power on the palate though. I like the nose here more than the palate but overall this is still quite nice. Should be even better in a few years. Very good. 88+
Red
2011 Le Vieux Pin Syrah Équinoxe Canada, British Columbia, Okanagan Valley, Okanagan Valley VQA
90 points
A bit shy at first but eventually did open up with a dusty and rocky nose of darker (but still red) fruits, pepper and hints of olive tapenade. Great weight on the palate with perfect ripeness. This was quite Northern Rhone like which is a great thing. Loads of potential so give this 3-5 years. Excellent. 90+

Flight 2 (2 notes)

White
2008 Bouchard Père et Fils Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
This has such a beautiful nose. Loads of floral, lemon and lime citrus with minerals and salinity aromas. On the palate there's a good dose of dry extract with sappy yet light flavours. After some time in the glass this was all minerals, pebbles, salinity and dry extract. Sappy and lithe are two words that work well describing this wine. Classic MP. I love this wine. Drink or hold. Excellent.
White
2011 Domaine Comte Abbatucci Cuvée Collection Général de la Révolution France, Corsica, Vin de France
This was very unique. Lime nose with a good dose of extract. On the palate linear yet powerful. Very structured for a white. Interesting.

Red
2000 Eric Texier Côte-Rôtie Vieilles Vignes France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
92 points
This jumped from the glass with a beautiful Northern Rhone nose of olive tapenade, salty meats, blood/iron and hints of floral. Very well balanced on the palate with excellent acidity. The fruit and acidity are perfectly balanced. This is a really nice expression of syrah. This bottle (auction purchase) is drinking perfectly now and I don't see it getting any better. Excellent.
Red
2011 Pierre Gonon St. Joseph France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph
91 points
Consistent with my previous note. Textbook St. Joseph. So youthful yet so much potential. Should improve for another 10+ years. Excellent. 91+
