Impossible to identify as Clos St. Hune - the hot vintage materializes and put a considerable damper on the razor-like acid that tend to characterize this wine. I very good glass of Riesling ,though, and quite approachable for a Clos St. Hune.

Quite advanced. Rich, creamy with notes of coffee and vanilla, but also with a good acidity and freshness to make a stand. People (not me) guessed Dom P - which perhaps says something about the wine. Stunning wine, well done by Ruinart ...

By far fresher than the last bottle I tasted - but absolutely full ripe. A complete, harmonious riesling with smoke, kerosene, rich fruit and considerable length.

A rich, almost decadent effort with clear popcorn in the nose that led mind (and the blind guess) onto Leflaive. It was therefore not, but it was a nice wine in supple balance, minerality, vraiment white burgundy from Puligny. And felt no lack of acidity, even in 2009.

Fading somewhat something in the company of Colins Truffiere - and difficult to identify as 2009, with its very slim character who almost tended to water out. For me, perhaps the evening's weakest wine of the night, but it too was harsh, the company.

So definitely kept in Coche Dury's new, sleek style - and year 2007 to well also slimming through. Rank, citrus characterized, more Puligny than Meursault when words do not know the label. Clearly too young and far from being unfolded. May we meet again ... and preferably before the last day.

Great, great wine. I guessed Bordeaux in 1982, and that says it. It is neither the oldest nor the most expensive wine I have tasted, but it is clearly the best really old Bordeaux wine, I have met in my life, and clearly better than, for example Petrus 1945 and 1947 - quoted from memory. In complete harmony with notes of coffee, chocolate, truffle, etc. with a hint of black currant in the still vibrant fruit. The tannins were completely dissolved and wine went on and on. Bravo.

Served straight after Cheval Blanc 1959 and what to choose? Burgundy is in some ways the most hedonistic wine, but the comparison is apples and pears, the two wines have nothing to do with each other, except that they are rare and expensive. DRC turned out great with a sweetness, a freshness, a length and a depth of only burgundy can. It's strawberry juice for adults, mature men, you are struck on pinot nerve and is both poetic and contemplative, while sinking into the spongy forest floor with its peculiar sweetness ...

This was in unreasonable hardship - to compare in the company of DRC Richebourg. So definitely a decent glass, recognizable as Burgundy, but it was completely overshadowed by Richebourg and seemed almost such straightforward, plain, pedestrian

We took some time to guess the DRC on this, but it was great Burgundy became clear immediately. Fully mature and harmonious with lots of sous-bois and a rich, sweet fruit and soft tannins. A hedonistic showingn, highly addictive - and quickly gone from the glass ...

A beautiful wine growing in the glass; well, 2006 is not any star vintage, the style was just a little rustic, but with air the wine was both clearer and easier, and when you see the label, you want to sit and think about it, but that's no good, move on ...

Rouget has brought me much joy of late - the location wins, even though the style is quite modern and thick and dense. Much to young, the real pinot nerve is still to show

Oh, oh; Il faut être absolument modern, ladies and gentlemen! Dense, strong liqueur-like, very concentrated, sweet, polished and almost gemacht in style. I was almost shocked by the revelation, because I did not recognize the producer, who belong to my great idols. Whether it's the wine's youth, vintage or just me, I do not know, the vineyard is excellent.

Certainly a comeback for Voerzio which seemed burned and tired at 2000-tasting recently. This was better, here there was more clarity and structure, more acid, more tannin, more backbone and precision, and the good barolos combination of bright berries and masculine rigor was clearly present.

It is not easy (even when you have the right last name) to be new boy in class when the class is so chock-full of confident old elefants. Decidedly international, modern Rioja, and such a wine has nothing to do at the adults' table, if you ask me. But delicious enough, a smooth operator and quite polished, and you would then certainly drink it if there was nothing else. But there was.

Clearly a positive surprise. Still young, but still approachable and with Mascarellos Burgundian ease that achieved also by the great 2000 tasting the other day. The tannins still present, but chewable. Fine, fine barolo in the classic style.

High class, but clearly weaker than Mascarello in my book. Held in Gajas very international style that has no sense of place, really, just very good; dark, round, somewhat polished, smooth and extremely, extremely well-made. But I do miss identity, I do so, and I did too, as we tasted in 2000 - and, moreover, often with Gaja ...

Infanticide. The wine is inky and closed, non approachable. One senses greatness, but just only feel it, right now is the perfect concentration and reminds me actually most of Beaucastel 2001, when it was younger. Compared to the regular 1999'er who feels really good right now, this will require at least another five years - at least.

Even on a night like this - and even after all this: This is a dazzlingly good wine ! Large, majestic and so well structured and complete , that you think it 's a lie . It has everything côte- rôtie must be in the form of hanged meat, olives, bacon , etc. , and it 's all wrapped up in Guigals luxury package of precisely dosed woodh. 1999 will be a great vintage in the Côte-Rôtie (the host had hidden it under a 1995 the, but I did it anyway , so it goes)
