Introduction
Given the opportunity to show Carlo some of Long Island, we spent the morning at the Aquarium and an amazing afternoon at Paumanok with Charles and Kareem Massoud.
Both took their time with us and explained the history of the winery, their philosophy on the wine-making and growing as well as tasting with us through some
of their amazing lineup.
For those who have not yet been - Paumanok is a great place to visit. Sitting on the deck, looking over the vineyards and sipping delicious wine... what could be better?
the wines are always excellent - but there were several surprises in store as well!
the minimalist chardonay and chenin were quite intriguing and rather cerebral wines.
The chenin especially made me want to put some away and retaste in 5 years+
the 2013 reds are showing the power and grace of that vintage. really marvelous stuff.
As well as the 2010 "single vineyard" wines - power and class in a bottle.
Since i was the driver and had my 8 yearold along as well - i had to spit. thus i chose not to give numerical grades to the wines this time. more than happy to
elaborate on any specific wines if there are questions but charles and kareem are probably better able to fill in the details.
