Introduction

Lovely evening enjoyed with friends at an impressive Italian restaurant in Copenhagen.
The food were classic Italian and very well made. All the wines were handled exceptionally well!

Flight 1 (10 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Cuvée No. 739 France, Champagne
90 points
Impressive acidity and a fair depth. The aftertaste is a bit short but it will need some time in the bottle to really impress. Still very young.
White
2014 Neudorf Chardonnay Moutere New Zealand, South Island, Nelson, Moutere
92 points
Really lovely and fresh. Start out very cool and Burgundy like but as it warm in the glass you can feel the slight sweetness.
Overall a very good wine packed with peach and apple with a touch of wood. Solid acidity and basically a well balanced wine.
Red
2001 Gaja Langhe Nebbiolo Sorì San Lorenzo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
94 points
Packed with dark fruit but also still a huge backbone with gritty tannins and an great acidity.
It never really touched me but it certainly was a well-made wine.
It is however a pleasure to drink at the moment as the wine, in general, seems to have opened up nicely, showing lovely floral aromas.

2006 Roagna Barbaresco Crichët Pajé Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco
94 points
Even though it had been decanted for quite a while, it was still harsh initially. There was lovely florality and fruit but also a huge acidity and harsh tannins.
As it got more time in the glass and warmed up a little bit, it started to pick up more fruit and depth while mellowing out the tannins a little bit.
Overall an impressive wine with a solid and charming intensity. But, it still needs a lot more time to open more up but there is good potential here.
Still worth drinking now, but the wine has a potential of improving a lot with time.
White - Sparkling
1998 Billecart-Salmon Champagne Le Clos Saint-Hilaire France, Champagne
94 points
Lovely aromas of red apples, nuts and very balanced acidity. Overall this wine is all about balance and intensity.
I was slightly unimpressed when the wine was revealed as I would have expected more of this.
However, it should also be mentioned that this wine clearly needs more time to improve! Or, it should be decanted if anyone dares :-)
After an hour in the glass you can really feel the depth and intensity improving!
White - Sparkling
1998 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
95 points
Impressive focus and depth. Lovely apple and hazelnut aromas. I never get tired of tasting Krug!
Even though it tastes really nice right now it clearly needs more time where it will continue to improve.
Red
1979 Tenuta Greppo (Biondi-Santi) Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
95 points
The wine is translucent but still very red in color which really surprised me.
The nose is classic aged Brunello with touches of red currants mixed with iron and earthiness.
Flavors are red currants, juicy cherry and just a little touch of age like leather and mushrooms. However, the wine is still extremely young and fresh and just so surprisingly good. Tannins are well integrated and the acidity is mouth-watering and piercing.
Truly an impressive bottle and a wonderful experience to taste this historical wine.
Red
2008 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto Toscana IGT Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
96 points
Impressive wine packed with flavors and a good intensity.
Lots of dark fruit, black berry / cherry, with a very youthful and charming intensity.
There is a lot of power/energy in the wine but still also a lot of elegance and balance.
Seems contradictive but it works really well in this very lovely wine.
Red
2001 Romano Dal Forno Amarone della Valpolicella Vigneto di Monte Lodoletta Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella
97 points
Packed with dark cherry flavors but still painfully young which is highly impressive.
It is very fruit driven but with a wall of acidity and quite harsh young tannins.
The wine is however in complete balance even due to all that intense chocolate covered fruit. It has started to shed some of the dried fruit flavors but it is still present.
Impressive depth and concentration but still in complete balance at the same time. Power and elegance at the same time.
It was decanted for 5-6 hours.

Hugely impressive wine. Sweet peach and apricots with a touch of vanilla and a very impressive aftertaste that just lingers for a very long time!
Lovely cleansing acidity and overall just a huge wine!! 97-98p
