Flight 1 (10 notes)

Red
2011 Figgins Estate Red Wine USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
90 points
Tasting, brief note. Slightly more Cab Sauv vs Merlot (+ some PV), this showcases both main grapes well. Black cherry and cassis with good concentration and power, but even better balance and elegance. Well rounded. Good now and for the next 5+ years.
Red
2013 Figgins Estate Red Wine USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
91 points
Tasting, brief note. Bigger, riper and more dense vs 2011. Nice espresso, anise and earth supporting notes. But also much more tannic and less balanced now, even if there is most likely greater potential here.
Red
2011 Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
87 points
Tasting, brief note. Leaner black ripe with moderate ripeness and intensity. Slightly compact and firm.
Red
2013 Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
92 points
Tasting, brief note. Black plum and cherry with some dark chocolate and savory spice. Power, while also nicely balance and persistent. Good now, and probably for another decade.
Red
2014 Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
Tasting, brief note. Extremely ripe and somewhat jammy. Perhaps this just needs time to resolve, but I did not enjoy its balance right now. Reserve is much better in this vintage.
Red
2011 Leonetti Cellar Reserve Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
91 points
Tasting, brief note. A step up vs the non-reserve. Also lean black fruit with better concentration and balanced. Nicely finessed. Good now.

2013 Leonetti Cellar Reserve Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
93 points
Tasting, brief note. Black plum and currant. A real step vs vs non-regular in terms of fruit intensity, balance and concentration. Better in a few more years.
Red
2014 Leonetti Cellar Reserve Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
92 points
Tasting, brief note. Also very ripe, rich and lush like the non-reserve, but much better balance, as well as showing a better supporting cast of spice and textures. Needs time.
Red
2005 Leonetti Cellar Reserve Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
92 points
Tasting, brief note. Black currant , black cherry and cassis with dark chocolate, cigarbox and slightly sweet spice. Very good balance and length, certainly very good overall.

Red
2002 Leonetti Cellar Reserve Walla Walla Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
92 points
Tasting, brief note. Slightly more aromatic complexity than the 2005 just tasted with some earth, bigger spice and cigarbox, alongside black cherry, plum and cassis, all maturing nicely. Good weight and balance, even if not as much concentration as the 2005 now.
