Introduction

We knew the theme, but all wines were tasted fully blind.

The theme was: In every flight a Bordeaux, a South African wine and another Bordeaux blend from Europe.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

In the bouquet a lot of mature cassis and dark berries, herbs, clove and earthy impressions. On the palate dark berries, firm acidity, red berries and some bell pepper, chocolate and slightly sticky tannin.

In the bouquet dark berries and some toast. On the palate juicy dark and red berries, ok acidity, some chocolate and slightly drying tannin.

Beautiful dark berries and luxurious oak. On the palate a firm amount of dark berries, cassis, smoke, cherries, tobacco, chocolate, good acidity and soft tannin which is a bit drying in the finish. The wine is quite developed, but certainly a great pleasure.

In the bouquet dark berries, green herbs and white pepper. On the palate juicy dark berries, licorice, herbs, mild acidity and tannin. The wine is a bit rustic and has a medium long finish. Still quite youthful 88+

In the bouquet beautiful dark berries, oak, cedar and some smoke. On the palate the same dark fruits, cassis, good acidity, some bell pepper and youthful tannin. Overall a beautiful and juicy, full bodied wine with a luxurious bouquet. Wait another 5 – 10 years. Will probably enter its (young) drinking window around 2024.

In the bouquet ripe dark berries. On the palate juicy and ripe dark berries, chocolate, earth, herbs and spices, smoke, firm acidity and youthful tannin. Probably wise to wait until 2020+

In the bouquet beautiful dark berries. On the palate juicy dark fruits, vanilla, some chocolate, mild acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Certainly a very good wine in the first half of its maturity stage.

This is a 100% Merlot. In the bouquet fresh red and dark berries and some smoke. On the palate dark berries, chocolate, some pepper, juicy and firm acidity and mild tannin. Overall an ok and clean, but not very complex Bordeaux.

In the bouquet green and herbal impressions as well as ripe dark berries. On the palate chocolate, coffee, and toast. Red and dark berries as well. Good acidity and firm tannin. Some sweetness as well.
