Nose: The nose is well balanced and regal with dark red cherries, cassis, cedar notes, pencil lead, leather, tobacco, and some cranberries. There is excellent depth with the nose just holding back a slight bit right now.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium acidity and medium+ tannins. The tannins are youthful, but silky with the feel showing a refined sense backed up with dark red cherries, cassis, cedar tones, tobacco, and cranberries.

Overall: This is a lovely, young Leoville-Barton. It needs a good 5+ years to start to fully show itself. But, it's excellent now with some air.

2010 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
94 points
Nose: The nose is deep and aromatic with black cherries, charcoal, leather tones, violets, perfumes, licorice, earth notes, spices, and black pepper. Even with all of the complexity, it feels like it is holding back a bit and hasn't fully unleashed itself.

Taste: Full bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The tannins are taught and youthful with the acidity providing a great spine. The feel is larger scaled and loaded with black cherries, charcoal, leather tones, violets, licorice, earth notes, and black pepper.

Overall: As great as it is right now, it feels like it can get better. There is a lot of depth and class that is all pure Allemand. I would love to see where this goes with age.

Nose: The nose is deep and rich with black cherries, chocolate, licorice, black tea, raisins, and spice tones. This shows off the intensity and extract that one expects from an Amarone while still being balanced.

Taste: Full bodied with medium- acidity and medium+ tannins. The structure is balanced and fairly resolved with the tannins showing a silky side and a notable presence of alcohol that is kept in check. The feel is deep, weighty, rich, yet balanced with black cherries, chocolate, black tea, and raisins.

Overall: This was drinking beautifully and was a wonderful bottle of Amarone. It showed off class and polish that a wine of this class can bring. It can age further, but it is a real joy right now.
