88 points
Firm cherries, blackberries, earth and oak in the bouquet. On the palate red berries, herbs, white pepper, full bodied and good acidity.
Flight 7 (2 notes)
Red
2006 Pierre Gaillard St. Joseph Les Pierres
90 points
Beautiful and rich bouquet with dark berries, laurel, licorice and spiciness. On the palate there is some development, but in fact still youthful, good garrigue, some pepper, good acidity and a touch of pleasant sweetness.
Red
2006 J.L. Chave Sélection Hermitage Farconnet
90 points
Consistent with my previous notes. I can add that the sweetness is showing a bit more than last time, but there is perfect acidity to compensate. Good fruits, sweet spices. In fact this wine is still quite youthful. If I had any I would cellar it at least until 2018 - 2020, because I think it has the concentration and vitality to improve in complexity.
