Flight 1 (8 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Henriot Champagne Brut Souverain France, Champagne
92 points
Relatively pale white golden colour with green reflections; complex nose with a pleasant hint of mineral reduction, dominated by high quality Chardonnay, lemon curd, orange, and flowers and chalk, beautifully interwoven with spicy Pinot depth; silky mousse on the palate, beautifully layered ripe citrus fruit, seamless and harmonious, spicy minerality, complete finish, very good length. An outstanding NV.

Pelure d’oignon colour; open and attractive, slightly yeasty nose with candied fruit, strawberries and a pleasant nuttiness; rich fruit flavours, rounded and well-matured, soft but fresh, gentle mousse, hint of acacia; good resonance and length.

White
2016 Seifried Chardonnay New Zealand, South Island, Nelson
87 points
Ripe fruit and spicy oak, what you see is what you get, peach and pineapple, lacks finesse but forward and flavoursome, soft texture but fresh, good length. Rather obvious.
Red
2016 Romain Duvernay Vacqueyras France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vacqueyras
88 points
A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Juicy and supple and spicy, creamy fruit but youthfully tight, with nice tannic grip (skins), uncomplicated but lively and attractive.
Red
2016 Hedonist Wines Shiraz The Hedonist Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
88 points
Fresh and juicy and plummy, spices and red meat on the nose, bright and fruity palate with well-judged phenolic grip, nice balance and flavours, creamy finish, good length.
Red - Fortified
N.V. Graham Porto Six Grapes Reserve Portugal, Douro, Porto
88 points
A solid Premium Ruby. Ripe and glossy black fruit and warm spices, tannic grip lends seriousness, flavoursome, slightly hot finish.
Spirits
N.V. The Glenlivet Master Distiller's Reserve Solera Vatted Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 40% United Kingdom, Scotland, Speyside
90 points
Classic Speyside character, malty and mild, heather and a hint of peat, spices and flowers, lovely balance between youthful energy and the gentleness of age, nice touch of cocoa on the palate, good precision and complexity, good length, no back-end heat. Actually very good.
