Flight 1 (11 notes)
White
2008 Louis Latour Meursault 1er Cru Charmes
This had been Coravin'ed some time earlier. It was completely simple and uninteresting tonight.
White
2014 Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett
89 points
Apple and pear with saline character and good mineral textures on finish. Slightly reserved in the middle. Better 2020 forward.
White
2012 Peter Michael Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille
No shrinking violet, this is ripe with honeycomb and both sweet and savory licorice, gingerbread and lemongrass. Very long and powerful with an intriguing mineral finish. Liked this a lot.

White
2010 Kistler Chardonnay Stone Flat Vineyard
Lots of new oak with mango and pineapple. Not exactly my preferred style of wine.
Red
2008 Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges
Open a couple of hours before serving. All black fruit with very impressive concentration and very meaty textures. Still very firm tannins alongside the powerful fruit, giving an overall backward character. Good now, certainly better in another 5-10 years, 91-92 point potential.
Red
2006 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Weir Vineyard
87 points
Ripe red fruit starting to show some age, even while still on the sweet side. Tasty, but this could have used more structure and depth.
Red
1994 Bodegas Peñalba López Ribera del Duero Torremilanos Crianza
86 points
Wonderful nose showing earth, mature red fruit and savory spice. Similar flavors, just still very firm for the level and age of the fruit.
Red
1994 Château Léoville Las Cases
87 points
Fully mature black fruit with lots of earth, tobacco and woodsy spice. Good+ balance with good weight. Probably better a few years ago, but still enjoyable.
Red
2010 Seaver Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon GTS
91 points
Very ripe plum and cherry with liqueur and dark chocolate. Very good weight, I'd just like a little more acidity and brightness. Very good to enjoy now. but I wouldn't cellar this much longer than a few more years.

1983 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard
90 points
Bottle had been previously Coravin'ed multiple times and almost half consumed before opening tonight. Wonderful aromas of mint, fully mature black fruit and woodsy spice with forest floor. Less exciting flavors seemed more tired and almost murky, but still tasty.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2005 Château de Fargues
92 points
Dried apricot and pineapple with roasted almonds. Good+ weight and length with moderate botrytis.
