Introduction

We brought a few wines, but most of the wines were served blind by our host.

This bottle was corked (again). I just saw that the bottle I tasted in 2012 was corked as well. Tonight’s bottle was from a different retailer.
Red
2010 Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape Collection Charles Giraud France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Dark berries like cassis and plums in the rich bouquet which shows some development and also still some lactic impressions. On the palate a bit rustic, cassis, chocolate, coffee, dates, good acidity and firm, still powerful tannin. Special in this stage.
Red
2012 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon Estate USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena
95 points
Licorice and dark berries, beautiful oak, caramel and sweet spices in the bouquet. On the palate juicy dark berries, some chocolate and beautiful acidity and tannin. Very beautiful and classical wine.

This is still a baby, but a beautiful one. Concentrated berries, beautifully dosed oak, good acidity and youthful but yet round and sticky tannin. Great beauty and a great future! 96 - 98+
