Introduction

Sometimes you do not need a motive to invite a few wine friends, including Loek. Some terrific bottles are maybe sufficient to be a motif!

Flight 1 (8 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. André Tissier & Fils Champagne Cuvée Pur Meunier Brut Nature France, Champagne
89 points
This meunier doesn't need a dosage. The mouse is gentle, the bouquet has some apricot, the midtaste is firm showing a hint of sweetness and in the aftertaste the purity continues. The first of four bottles, so I can retaste this champagne.

2016 Weingut Ingrid Groiss Grüner Veltliner Sauberg Tradition Austria, Niederösterreich, Weinviertel

A very good wine with a ripe sauvignon like bouquet, some mint, even a hint of anise, but as my friend and GV connaisseur Loek stated: a lovely wine, but I cannot find the GV; nevertheless with its elegant body and persistence in the aftertaste it is a very enjoyable wine.
White
2010 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Corton-Charlemagne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
89 points
The wine started with too obvious wood, but after 30 minutes there was a certain balance in the wine. There is a firm and quite balanced taste underneath the layer of wood. At day two the wood was even horrible; not my kind of wine.

Epilogue: When I compare my 2018 tasting note with the recent one, I think that the last bottle was off balance.

2002 Henri Germain et Fils Meursault 1er Cru Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

This wine was dedicated to my tasting note 6,000 some months ago.
Completely in line with that experience this bottle was again outrageous.
Everything, absolutely everything in this wine had the right dose and its right place from bouquet to finish. The wood, so gossamer, gave the wine a very noble and classic character. Not power, but sheer persistence, perfect almonds & bitters and long, very long; top white Burgundy.
Red
2004 Glaetzer Godolphin Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

A friendly silky giant, silky, while everything is smooth and juicy, but there is also a firm and ripe Syrah backbone with still fresh fruit and sufficient acidity; lovely stuff with a long aftertaste,

2016 Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape Collection Charles Giraud France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

An incredible concentration of fat cherries and underneath lots of minerals. The wine is very tense, I think starting to close for some years, so nothing to worry. The grenache is leading and makes the wine dense, the mourvèdre gives depth already and the small amount of syrah pushes the acidity up in the backbone. More points in due time for this super concentrated giant.

White - Off-dry
2013 Künstler Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck Riesling Spätlese Germany, Rheingau

And again (see my previous notes) I'm impressed by the very subtle and ripe acidity that keeps everything in its place; elegant, refined, persistent and superbly balanced, no signs of age. Tasted with cheese, it was again memorabel.
