Tasted August 4, 2022 by chatters with 64 views
Introduction
Split this tasting of the Talbots I have in the cellar over a couple of nights and this is the second of them
Flight 1 (5 notes)
White
2015 Château Talbot Caillou Blanc
From Coravin. slight green apple and apple skin, gooseberry, grass, creamy leesy notes. Medium plus intensity acidity strays towards sour, grass, apple skin, saline notes, a little woody texture, creamy and leesy notes. Long with the non-intrusive alcohol warmth helping to carry the finish. Okay.
Red
2011 Château Talbot
From Coravin. Blackcurrant, brambles, cedar, sweet spice, a little dusty spice in support, slight alcohol prickle. Juicy, savoury, brambles and blackcurrant, creamy and woody tannins persists in support, settled, balanced, fleshy. Nice.

Red
2013 Château Talbot
From Coravin. Jubey, red over blackberry, currant, cream, sweet spice; pretty nose. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, similar fruit and flavour profile to the nose, tannins are a little green and it finishes a touch hard but this on the better side of the 2013's I've tried.

Red
2014 Château Talbot
From Coravin. Slightly meaty, metallic, savoury, biscuit, brambles, sweet spice, a little red currant underpin. Medium plus intensity acidity, more red fruited on the palate, a little bitter tannins are drying and chewy, a little clay. Medium plus intensity length. Hmm

Red
2016 Château Talbot
From Coravin. Dense, primary, a little closed, black hued fruits, a touch of alcohol prickle. Juicy, dense, medium plus intensity acidity, black hued fruits, talc textured, slightly drying tannins persist long hand in hand with the fruit. Young but shows plenty of promise. Yum.

I do like Talbot...the 11 showed promise and is pleasing...13 pretty good for the vintage...others need time.
