Introduction

Every participant had to bring a wine of the theme. We did not know which wines were brought by the others. All wines were tasted blind, also without knowing when the wine you brought yourself was poured.

Flight 1 (13 notes)

2010 Château Corbin St. Émilion Grand Cru France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
93 points
Second time within a month I taste/drink this wine. The previous note was not a blind note. The one below is a blind note and the wine came from another source. In the bouquet dark chocolate, licorice, dark berries and a little celery. On the palate dark berries, meaty, licorice, laurel, savory and chocolate. Good acidity and firm tannin. A lot of power for many more years of ageing.

Still a slightly purple hue. In the bouquet still a bit locked but there are red and dark berries, sweet spices and sweet licorice. On the palate juicy dark berries, bell pepper and cherries, good and mild fresh acidity and tannin, a touch of sweetness and licorice. Beautiful wine, but not extremely concentrated.

The bouquet is still locked with cherries and dark berries e.g. cassis. Also oak cedar, vanilla and leather. On the palate a juicy and full bodied wine with the same impressions as in the nose. Full bodied with good acidity and lovely tannin and also a slight but pleasant touch of sweetness.

Beautiful and complex bouquet with cedar, dark berries and cherries, sweet spices, expressive and a bit rustic. On the palate juicy dark berries, some licorice and graphite, beautiful acidity and soft and round, friendly tannin, beautiful vanilla and a touch of sweetness. Overall harmonious and in a beautiful drinking stage now and probably the next 4+ years.

The bouquet is still locked but shows beautiful dark berries and oaky flavors. On the palate the wine shows dark berries, some cherries, leather, luxurious oak and cedar, juicy acidity. This is a very luxurious and still very youthful wine. Waiting another 5+ years will be rewarded with even more finesse and complexity I suppose. 93 – 95
