Flight 1 (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
2009 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
93 points
This is drinking beautifully, toasty, lemon.
White - Sparkling
2008 Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame France, Champagne
92 points
To me, this hasn't changed much in 2 years. There is a lot going on. White fruit of apple and pear, baking spice, toast, lemon rind and yeast. The overall profile remains tight. This drank well tonight and it's best days are clearly in front of it.

Flight 2 (3 notes)

White
2015 Arnot-Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch USA, California, Napa Valley
93 points
Flint with some funk. Very lightweight, could be confused with chablis, even with some slight salinity.
White
2010 Rhys Chardonnay Alpine Vineyard USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
92 points
There are oxidative notes along with golden fruit. Really good complexity but this was fresher a year or two ago. Time to drink up.
White
2010 Morlet Family Vineyards Chardonnay Ma Douce USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
89 points
More mature than the 2010 Rhys alpine chardonnay that it followed. Butterscotch, surprisingly tart, waxy, hints of being corked but I decided that there was just some funk to it.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
2012 Trisaetum Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge Estate USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge
93 points
Fragrant, floral, earthy, cherry, bright crushed berry, cranberry. Very expressive.
Red
2010 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
92 points
Lots of berries and well-balanced with acid. After about 45 minutes in glass that seemed like it was becoming sharp and maybe falling apart. That lost it 1 point in my book, and a bit sad that these Rhys pinots take a long time to mature yet quickly nose dive, at least this one.

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
2009 Château de Fieuzal France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
92 points
Slow o'd a few hours. Peppery, funk on the nose, fairly classic bordeaux with cedar, leather and forest floor.
Red
2014 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature USA, California, Napa Valley
92 points
I'm not a big fan of this producer but this was a stand-up cabernet that went great with beef tenderloin. Not over the top, cassis, fine tannins.

Flight 5 (2 notes)

Red
2008 Saint Cosme Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
92 points
This had a traditional CDP profile with a lot of garrigue and some black fruit. Full-bodied but not jammy.
Red
2011 Viña Cobos Malbec Argentina, Mendoza
Dark, deep, raisined, dried herbs, dried tobacco. This was not horrible but nothing like I thought it would be. No red fruit at all makes me think this bottle was either heat damaged or has not aged well.
