Past peak, but drinkable. Nothing to remember though.
White - Sparkling
1990 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon France, Champagne
91 points
Medium amber color, fine Mousseux. At first seemed to be completely past peak, but with time and air it developed fine, dense mineral notes and a nice creaminess. Noticeable sweetness. Medium finish. Yes, it is past its prime, but still drinks nicely. 90-91

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
1990 Château Léoville Poyferré France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

On the palate very deep, dense and complex. Mulberry, herbs and spices. Velvet texture and high, mellow tannin, some extract sweetness. Mouthcoating and long. Beautiful wine at its full peak. 94-95

91 points
Tasted blind. Decanted for several hours. Clear, youthful deep ruby color. A bit rough and rustic nose, some green notes.
On the palate as well a bit rustic with high, mellow tannin. Very nice fruit, very fresh and youthful, medium+ length. Would have probably rated higher if not drunk parallel to the Leo-Poy. Needs food. 91

Red
1990 Château Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
97 points
Tasted blind. Decanted for several hours. Clear, deep, youthful ruby-tawny color. Very fine, elegant and complex nose with some graphite, tobacco and fine red fruit. Complex.
On the palate it is all about elegance, balance and finesse. Very fine blueberry and mulberry fruit, beautiful integrated acidity and tannin. Some barn notes, herbs, tobacco and salt. Beautiful silky texture, tension and pressure. Long, elegant finish. Still very young and will probably continue to evolve for another decade.
The palate is close to perfection, but it did not really excite me. Very, very good, certainly great, but it lacks somehow the "wow" for me. Nevertheless 96-97

Flight 6 (2 notes)

Red
1990 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
95 points
Tasted blind. Decanted for several hours. Clear, deep youthful ruby color. Beautiful BDX nose at its full peak. Complex and deep.
On the palate not as perfect as the Haut-Brion, but also very elegant and young. Wonderful pressure and tension, great structure and tension. Great joy and a beautiful, fresh wine with a very long, lingering finish. Not even close to its peak. 95+
Red
1990 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia Italy, Tuscany, Vino da Tavola

Tasted blind. Decanted for several hours. Clear, deep tawny color. Very fruity and a bit broad nose with lots of plum and other dark fruit. Not as complex as the GPL.
On the palate very sweet, round and charming with lots of fine fruit and mellow tannin. Great extract, very dense and long. Joyful to drink, but lacks a bit excitement. 92-93

White
2021 Frischengruber Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Kreuzberg Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
Tasted blind. Crystal clear color. Painfully young nose with lots of yeast and fresh lemon.
On the palate very interesting. Spicy, good tension, creamy, lots of extract. Good depth. This wine has certainly potential, but is not drinkable right now. Would like to taste it again in 5-10 years.

White - Off-dry
1990 Von Schubert Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese Nr. 105 Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
flawed
Unfortunately a bad cork, hence the wine was oxidized. Still drinkable and joyful and easily detectable as Grünhaus, but only a shadow of what it could be. Such a pitty ...
White - Off-dry
1990 Von Schubert Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese Nr. 96 Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
96 points
Popped and poured. Clear, medium golden, youthful color . Clean, pronounced and almost youthful, classic Grünhaus nose: Herbaceous, tangerine, Cassis and elder. Dense, complex and simply intoxicating.
On the palate this bottle was definitively amazing! Racy, perfectly integrated acidity. Only 9% abv. Incredibly fresh, crystal clear precise fruit, lots of citrus and tangerine, herbs and fantastic mineral core. Very juicy! With air it developed an intense energy, pressure and concentration! And it was always airy and dancing on the tongue! Wonderful balance and very elegant. Finish was long and lingering. This bottle was still young with at least another decade ahead! Awesome wine and a great experience! 96-97
