Flight 1 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
2012 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année France, Champagne
92 points
Glass: Sophienwald
From Magnum. Fresh, tart, young. Very good Champagne, but did not excite me or touched me. Compared to the Krug 168 we had this night, it felt simple and one dimensional. Give it some more time. 91-92+

Flight 2 (2 notes)

White
2007 Franz Hirtzberger Riesling Smaragd Singerriedel Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
93 points
Glass: Sophienwald
From Magnum. Popped and poured. Clear, deep golden color. Fresh, fruity and floral nose with some Amalfi citrus, sweet fruit.
On the palate the classic prototype of Wachau style Smaragd. Lots of residual sugar, very creamy, lots of sweet fruit, dense, fresh, mineral, probably a bit hot, long and sweet finish. If I would drink it alone, I would probably rated it higher, but today it lost a bit against his elder brother :) 93-94

White
2014 Dönnhoff Hermannshöhle Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Nahe
92 points
Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
From Magnum. Popped and poured. What a waste! Decade too young. Beautiful genes, very good structure, density and tension, but by far too young, especially from Magnum. Give it at least 5, better 10+ years. 92++

Red
2003 Donatsch Pinot Noir Unique Switzerland, Eastern Switzerland, Graubünden, Malans
93 points
Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
From Magnum. Clear, medium ruby-garnet color. Fine Pinot nose with some warm red fruit.
You can feel the warm vintage, but even if the acidity is not that high, it handles the 14,5% abv very well. Pinot at its full peak. Sweet, warm fruit, marzipan, beautiful velvet texture, long, fruity finish. Drink now. 93-94

Flight 9 (1 note)

Red
2011 Bernhard Huber Wildenstein Spätburgunder R Germany, Baden
93 points
Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
From normal bottle. Popped and poured. Very fresh, young and dense. You can feel the mastery of this wine, but it is just not ready for the show. Give it 5, probably 10 more years and it will be great. 92-93++

White - Off-dry
2011 Reichsrat Von Buhl Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Spätlese Germany, Pfalz
89 points
Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
From normal bottle. Pfalz version of a Riesling Spätlese in a warm vintage. Very well made, easy to drink, but lacks soul, tension, depth and complexity. Drink now or over the next decade. Will most likely not improve. 88-89
