I can understand how/ why others like this style of wine, but the very high level of alcohol makes this marginally appealing to me, despite really enjoyable fruit and depth.

Ripe stone fruit while also bright and linear. Very long finish, wonderfully fresh. A big step up from the previous bottle form the same case.

Served blind, this was so past its peak there had to be something wrong with storage or the cork.

This wine simply doesn't budge. It got to a great place shortly after release, and has largely stayed there for 15 years. Brilliant black and blue fruits with enough structure in the near background, all with a complex array of spice. This goes on and on and on.

Certainly very enjoyable, just not at the level of previous bottles that have thrilled me. Or not as good as Papa 2003 in the next glass. Ripe and fleshy black and blue fruit, this is powerful and enchanting, just slightly sweeter than I can ever recall from before.

In 06/07 flight. Meaty and firm, this was certainly enjoyable but showed less complexity or nuance vs the others.

WOTF in 06/07 flight. Rich and spicy, this was layered and complex with Asian and Indian spices while always perfectly harmonious. Even better tonight vs another bottle tasted last week.

In 06/07 flight. Powerful and meaty, this has so much here but isn't as perfectly harmonious as the best of SQN, even a little grippy. But so much here.

In 06-07 flight. Lush and spicy with rich red and black plum and cherry. There is an enchanting start that ends with an even bigger, more robust finish. Very food now with upside.

Ripe, powerful, and nicely spicy. Yet easily remaining in balance. Long finish.

Another great bottle of this wine, that I find even more thrilling than stamp collecting. Powerful and just perfectly composed.

Still ripe and fleshy, this seems to be at the point of just settling down. Certainly good, even if lacking the density and gravitas of the best from Manfred.

Served double blind following an SQN tasting, I did not find this balanced or easy to enjoy. Lots here, but not for me.

Wonderful richness and concentration, this sweet (enough) with out seeming like a sweet wine, and just savory enough. Very good now.
