Introduction

Wine tasting with dinner, at home, with friends.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2020 Barton & Guestier Graves Thomas Barton Reserve France, Bordeaux, Graves
88 points
Light, crisp nose. Light, minerally on the palate, with a little saline and shellfish character. Basic but good.
White
2014 Château Talbot Caillou Blanc France, Bordeaux
87 points
Not much aroma. Honeyed, slightly green clover flavors. A little sharp through the finish. Aged to long; likely would have been better 5 years ago.
Red
2015 Le Haut-Médoc d'Issan France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
87 points
Mild black pepper and graphite on the nose. Austere on the palate. Some mushroom and earth.
Red
2018 Château Marquis d'Alesme France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
91 points
Graphite nose. Fresh on the palate, with good body, moderate tannins, and well balanced. Slightly fruity, with blueberry and some other more general ripe fruit notes.
Red
2020 Château Bellefont-Belcier France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
90 points
Lush and fruity on the nose. Big but smooth on the palate. Mildly tannic, full body. General fruitiness.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2013 Château Guiraud France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
90 points
From a 375ml bottle. Honey, clover, and spices on the nose. Similar on the palate, though the flavor is less intense than the aroma. Could age much longer.
