Flight 1 (22 notes)

Red
2006 August West Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: bright, light cherry and strawberry fruit, still somewhat restrained, but showing very well. Very Good.
Red
2006 August West Pinot Noir Graham Family Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: less heat than the Rosellas with peach and nectarine notes; ends with a citrus finish. Very Good.
Red
2006 Copain Pinot Noir Tous Ensemble USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: nice bright red fruit; very round and mouth filling. Good to Very Good.
Red
2006 Copain Pinot Noir Cerise Vineyard USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: some bacon on the nose; brilliant, restrained fruit with a dry cherry finish. This is for aging. Good right now.
Red
2006 Copain Pinot Noir "En Haut" Kiser USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: cherry and strawberry notes with great acidity and balance. Good to Very Good.
Red
2006 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir Dutton Ranch Sanchietti Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Green Valley of Russian River Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: hard cherry candy notes with spice; good acidity with a dry finish. Very Good.
Red
2006 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir Devil's Gulch USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Marin County
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: less spice and more accessible than the Sanchetti, with orange citrus notes. Good.
Red
2006 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir Dutton Ranch Freestone Hill Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: peach and nectarine notes with a spicy citrus finish. Good to Very Good..
Red
2006 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir McDougall Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: this was the least interesting of the DG lineup. Seemed dull and flat tasting with low acidity in comparison to the others. Fair to Good.
Red
2006 Freeman Pinot Noir Russian River Valley USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: this was showing the best in their lineup. Athletes talk about being "in the zone", that quasi-mystical trance-like state where everything is in slow motion and in perfect order and alignment. Well this is in the zone. Very Good to Excellent.
Red
2006 Freeman Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: this was showing the second best in their lineup. This wine and the Russian River really made me question the validity of paying a premium for single vineyard wines over blends. Very Good.
White
2006 Hirsch Vineyards Chardonnay USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: nice pear and citrus with fresh fruit finish. Good to Very Good.
Red
2006 Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir The Bohan-Dillon USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: Marie Hirsch described this as being the village wine. Right now it's fruit from their vineyards and neighbors. I have to admit, this was the least interesting wine of their line-up and was also the wine that tasted less like a pinot from the entire tasting at the event. Strong licorice and cinnamon notes with very low acid that tasted like a flat cola. Fair.
Red
2006 Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir M USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: Strong cinnamon nose with medium acidity and a charcoal citrus finish.
Good.
Red
2006 Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post Pinot Noir USA, Oregon
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: I talked to Gray Hartley briefly and mentioned that I had tried the 2006 wines earlier at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchants. As a result, he only poured two wines for me that were not poured there. This wine was soft, round and approachable with lots of ripe fruit with a tart orange juice finish. Good to Very Good.
Red
2006 Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir S USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: bright acidity, with lots of tangy citrus notes. Very Good.
Red
2006 Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post Pinot Noir Perfect Set USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: I talked to Gray Hartley briefly and mentioned that I had tried the 2006 wines earlier at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchants. As a result, he only poured two wines for me that were not poured there. As far as I could tell this is something like the Kosta Browne Four Barrel: limited case production from the best barrels pulled from specific areas. Unfortunatley, I don't remember which areas the barrels were from, so the designation I created maybe wrong. Strong notes of charcoal, licorice, caramel with dark fruit and spice ending with a tightly drawn finish. Not my style but exotic and Good.
Red
2006 Inman Family Pinot Noir Meredith USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: I talked to Kathleen Inman and she mentioned that this was made as a fund raising wine for her daughter's school. All I can say is that it was the best of her lineup with nice fruit, bright acidity and fresh citrus ending with a dry finish. Good to Very Good.
Red
2006 Kanzler Vineyards Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: light body with soft spices and a dry finish. Very Good.
Red
2006 Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: bright acidity with lots of spice and tangy fruit. Very Good.
Red
2006 Keller Estate Pinot Noir La Cruz Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: very interesting wine: bright fruit comprising vegetal and citrus notes with a tangy, tropical fruit finish. Good to Very Good.
Red
2006 Le Cadeau Pinot Noir Diversite USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
Tasted at Pinot Days. Quick notes: I really wanted to like these wines but they just weren't my style. Each one had a strong flavor profile of extremely dark tastes. Chocolate notes with dark spice but less citrus notes than the Equinox.
