Apples (a lot), pears. Fresh. Lots of acid. Would prefer it to be more round and nuanced.

Still showing good structure and with typical minerality; delightful. There is no reason I see to expect it to lose life soon. I have 10-11 bottles left and plan to enjoy them with complete leisure.

Low fill; spoiled (ex of Johnny Apple estate).

Ex from Johnny Apple's passively cooled cellar. Still some color, brick at the edges. Disappointing the first day, with most of the fruit seemingly gone from the scene and a tannic backbone the most prominent facet. After 24 hours in a 34 degree refrigerator, having come to temperature, it was a different wine. Still not altogether in tune, but more balanced; in fact oxygen seemed to enliven it and the tannins receded to let it show. I look forward to the other three bottles, betting that at least one is altogether very good. Storage an issue?

Most bottles of the case I had have been oxidized and unpleasant. This one was a revelation. Lemon yellow color, mineral and stone fruit nose, alive on the palate. Such a pity it is a random rarity due to premox.

Quite compelling and approachable at the moment.

Quite good; game flavors dominate very distinctly.

Better the second day, when it seemed to gain focus, but not as alluring as other vintages recently tasted.

Really lovely. In balance with cabernet franc notes on the nose and palate. Improved over several hours but we didn't have the will power to let it sit until the next day.

Very enjoyable. I was surprised by the fact that guests not familiar at all with this liked it quite a lot.

Lovely wine. Laser-like focus and grip with excellent balance.

Really singing on all cylinders. A beautiful wine with much life ahead.

Quite attractive. Balanced, and unlike most 2002 Australians I've had (and there have been too many), not overripe/raisiny.

Ready to drink; oak decently integrated but overall a bit underwhelming given the press.

Opened up nicely, though still tight and evolving slower by a substantial measure than the 750.

Pleasant, holding up ok. Still decent fruit. Relatively low acidity beginning to bring it down.

Wonderfully harmonious; perfectly in tune. Nosed out the 1990 Krug and a bit better than the 1990 Bollinger RD. We have had these three together perhaps 10 times and I would say the Pol Roger has shown best. The Krug is catching it however and plainly will last longer so the title may soon pass.

Lovely and far from past its prime. Nudged out by the 1990 Krug and Pol Roger Winston Churchill this time, having won the match in the past.

Superb. Had this alongside Bollinger RD 1990 and Pol Roger Winston Churchill 1990. The Krug was a powerful and classic example; just spectacular. It will live much longer than the others though the Pol Roger showed best in its classic harmony.

After noticing considerable bottle variation in the past (being way overweight in holdings on this one), and often being disappointed, this bottle was a nice surprise. Well knit together, ready to drink, still some structure. But much more likely to go down than up now.

Good yellow color, no oxidization. Classic roussanne flavors. Still fresh but low acidity counsels drinking now.

Still holding up. Mature color, a bit subdued but still nice nose with classic lead pencil notes. Still some fruit.

Disappointing. Some fruit at first but a bitter aspect, which was not present the next day, but then neither were the good aspects.
