Beautiful, dry, linear, full of extract, mineral, complex ,Riesling. Obvious creamy length from extended stay on lees yet without any fat. This is what one wants and thanks to Johannes for providing it. So glad to find this outlier! It would live much longer if we would only let it.

It's like doing somersaults and then describing them! More, more, and more. If you've got em' and can, let them sleep! Immense pleasure. a chunk of Valdeon or Stichelton with it , now that's nice.

Yumm. Steely, rich, mineral, waxy, years yet for prime drinking. Shows the weight of the vintage without losing the mineral balance. Needs air and time to unveil the nuances hidden by big fruit. Not a delicate flower, but a melange of tropical and white fruits with some salinity and finishing mineral wash.

Way too young. Still wound up tight, fairly unexpressive, reticent nose, lean palate. All the stuff is there it appears, just not coming out to play yet. The others shall sleep a while.

Oh Gideon, oh Clos Saron, let me sing your praises! One of the dirtiest, nicest, most terroir filled Pinots to have come out of California and crossed my lips. Everything about this bottle sang about it's place in the sun. All secondary fruits and earthy loam, rocks and vines. Transportive.
A bottle in it's prime.

Really nice, well defined, beaujolais spot on! Has that ineffable Spanish quality though that sets it apart, dry, mid weight, refreshing, dark fruit.
Great qpr.

Powerful Burg that as said here before, develops quite nicely into something more autumnal and slightly feminine. All dark red fruits at the fore, then with time and air, more complexity and sous bois. This one contributed to a nice Boeuf Bourguignon and drank alongside very well on a freeeeezing winters eve!

Wonderful Gamay, red fruits into lighter black fruits. Great mouth feel, begs for another sip. With cellaring, this should gain seriousness, but no need to wait. Alongside Delice de Bourgogne, cherry pits !!!

Dark crimson pour, Slight blood on the nose.Really nice polished Sangiovese fruit with some secondary characteristics showing, especially with a short decant and over two hours of drinking.
A little leather, some souis-bois, nice healthy, mulchy funk. Showing little or no excess of the heat typical for the vintage. A study in control. Average to better finish with fine-grained tannins peeking through. Great food wine.

Nice Russian River Pinot but a tad fat, justs clomps along next to middling Willamette examples. Takes over from lighter food where the Willamette's enhance. Dark red and some blue fruits with some well integrated oak, but the acidity is lacking to form a harmonious whole. Tiresome after an entire glass or so. Fine for sipping. Cali Pinot fans will think I'm bonkers and find it light and elegant. So the world goes round.

Nice cool climate Merlot, Better on second day. Earth comes out and primary fruits take a back seat.

Nice village Chablis, Loads of seashells and minerals on top of white fruits with some citrus. Crisp, clean, and palate refreshing. Excellent, slightly metallic med. finish. Not one for the long haul but could withstand some more time without great damage. a point now.

edit... 8/15/2012: A chameleon of a wine. Not so much orange as burnished gold by now. Poured from bottle cellar temp. At first, very austere, tight, bordering on harsh with some butterscotch and yellow fruits, plums? peeking through. With an hour out, huge, creamy palate, great balancing acidity, well incorporated fine tannins, a complete package. Accompanied roasted Rougets, potatoes, and carrots, all treated simply. The flavors harmonious. Great depth and persistence on this wine. The creaminess hints at honey and lanolin but is held in check by the acids.Never fatiguing.A great wine worth waiting for. we'll see how the last glass does in a day or so. (26 views

Well,well,well...how do you describe what the Navazos boys have done again?
Caramel, iodine, seashore in all it's swirling, cotton candy/salt complexities. This wine is transportive. The mind wanders. You do not have to seek this, it grabs you yet allows you in, plenty of room for the imagination.Magic! Watch how it changes over time and temperature. Toffee, then the beach, old barrels, lazy afternoons, heavy nights, oh, I could go on...
