I expected a lot more from this bottle. It's a nice wine, but lacked the truffles and bright black fruit I expected. It just came off rather dull. It is either in a dumb phase or my bottle was ever so slightly corked. But I am sensitive to TCA and didn't get any in the wine.

There is a real ripe, butterscotch richness to this with a good thread of of salinity running through it. A real yin and yang where the two components compliment each other well. Not quite up to the the 2019 but still excellent. Recommend decanting to bring this together if drinking now. Looking forward to following its evolution over the coming years.

Union Grands Crus Bordeaux (UGC) 2020 Tasting (Hangar 14, Bordeaux): Still lots of tannins but plenty of interesting fruit upfront. A pleasurable, classy Margaux which could be drunk now or will reward with cellaring. When tasted with the 2020 you can see a consistent and winning house style. Well done.

7/3/23, 7:12 PM - Good question. Since this was at a large walk around tasting event I do not know but expect that it was quite short as a there was a continuous line-up for tasting.

This is still a big, intense and tannic wine with a good core of vanilla infused fruit. Will be interested in seeing where this is in a couple of years.

Rob visiting. Birthday lunch previous with Dom. This finished up the sunny afternoon nicely.

Best pop and pour value wine I have had in awhile. 2021 official summer wine!

I understand that this was a very warm year in Abruzzi and not the best example of this wine (from Ian D'gata) yet being my first go with this producer, this was really well made. Deep yellow gold, this wine would be a poor choice for a summer 'patio pounder' as it is slightly sour, but with the right type of food, it will shine. Very dry with some exotic fruits such as kiwi ad the like.

2016 M. Chapoutier Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonniers Syrah
A week in the Northern Rhone; 12/7/2018-12/15/2018 (Lyon, Vienne, Ampuis, Chavanay, Hermitage, Cornas, St. Joseph, Condrieu & Paris): At the Chapoutier tasting room. 20% aged in barrel and 80% in concrete. Nose is typical syrah - dark fruits and some meat. Palate has dark fruit and black pepper on entry but falls off and gets a bit flabby to me on the finish. This wine is built for early drinking - within 5 years.
