A cab lovers merlot. This would easily age another 5 years. Black fruit, medium plus tannins and a beautiful, aroma make this easy to drink. On the edge of being a little too big for my tastes, yet somehow I kept going back for more. Enjoyable now but you can definitely hold and the tannins will become even more velvety.

Very elegant style of zinfandel. If I were to taste this blind, I would have thought it was a Pinot Noir. Very light in body and color (for a zin) and a pretty nose of cherry-cola, cranberry and earth. Not a bad wine at all, but if you are looking for a big alcoholic, jammy bruiser Zin this one is not for you. Pope Valley Winery should get kudos for producing a more food friendly style.

Surprisingly good Texas Sangiovese. Much better than a lot of California attempts at Sangiovese. Nice red cherry flavors, bit of earthiness, light bodied with medium acidity. Went very well with grilled ahi and heirloom tomato bruschetta.

What a delight this was! Cheap, fun, tasty, bottled with a crown cap and a full liter to boot. This is my new summer party wine. Crisp acidity, unmistakably Gruve and affordable enough to drink every day. Not complex or pretentious, good, clean wine. Serve it cold while sitting on the deck on a balmy evening.

I really wanted this wine to be good, not great but drinkable. Unfortunately, I had my doubts and they were confirmed upon the first sip. Wichita Falls is my birthplace and a really hot, flat, dry and windy place in north central Texas. Not the kind of place you would ever expect to see grapevines. I found this wine while making one of my rare trips back home (I now live in Napa Valley) and just had to purchase it out of curiosity. Kind of like drinking paint thinner, with the bare essence of fruit. No acidity to speak of and almost zero finish. Oh well, I'll keep the bottle for posterity.

Who knew Grenache Blanc could be so delicious. Nicely balanced wine with beautiful fruit and a wonderful floral aroma. A good value summer wine, nice to drink alone or with a variety of summer bounty from the farmer's market. A great offering from Kris Curran, winemaker for Sea Smoke.

Extraordinary Spanish Albarino! Citrus, wet stone, honeysuckle. Crisp acidity with lots of minerality. Drink this alone on a hot day or even better with raw oysters or grilled fish. I love this wine!
