97% Cab Sauv, 3% Cab Franc. Black cherry, currants, and spice blend on nose with light cocoa and cola. Rich tannins, on palate are fruit, with flavors of berries, black fruit and cocoa.

First had this as a barrel sample in 2014 and it was unbelievable then. Now several years in bottle, some of the stunning lushness has receded and a tart acidity has come along to balance the fruit for the long haul. Still very good, but I miss the velvety, juicy treasure this was pre-bottling. If you open it soon, give it 2-3 hours in the decanter so it can unfurl itself.

Another incredible wine from Robert Hunt at Anderson’s Conn Valley! I know Robert and Todd use this to blend, but Wow! Silky smooth (typical ACV) with tastes of black currants, a touch of plumb and vanilla. Drinking beautifully but easily capable of cellaring another 10-15 years. Been decanted for 5+ hours. So excited we have another 8 bottles!

red fruit aromas with some wood and spice; medium bodied with a tannic finish; young-decanted for a couple hours and paired with a cheesy caramelized onion exotic mushroom pizza finished with truffle carpaccio. the truffle and mushroom played nicely with the earth and the onion and cheese tamed the tannins. now what do I tell my cardiologist?

This wine always has a special place in my heart, as my dad gifted a bottle of the ‘95 to us to share when our first child was born in ‘99. This ‘06 benefitted from 90 min. in the decanter. It was a good wine, if not a show stopper. Cleanly made and true to type. Drink or hold.

Best among 8 brunellos tasted tonight. Best among all 2010s I have tasted also. This wine most typifies what historic brunello tastes like to me. Lovely fruit, lots of fragrance, underbrush, cedar and black fruits. Tannins are strong, but accommodating to the fruit. Don't pass this up if you can find it.

6/15/18, 1:55 PM - Opened 4 hours before consumption, no decant. The only 2010 I've been excited about. Aging may bring the tannins down but no necessary for quality drinking now. My guess is 6 to 10 years of life remaining.

Double decanted 11 hrs before the first pour. This is dark, savory, and delicious! Made for a great pairing with grilled filet mignon with Montreal sasoning and a Stilton sauce. Plenty of good years ahead for this wine.
