Quite similar to 2009 which in my opinion is one of their top vintages to date. Creme di cassis, currant, blueberry and a hint of toasted oak. Very plush in the mouth with nice flavor profile and subtle tannis. This was on Day #2 which was better than first day. It smoothed out quite a bit.

Blueberry, earth, clove, and a bit of leather. In the mouth, great length with more berry flavor, and a hint of spice.

These are a produced to age and this one is too young, lay this wine down. Nice elegant structured wine that must be decanted. A focused wine of full forward expressive black and red fruits, cedar lite spice and mild sweetness. I score this one a conservative 87 points. I guess that I am spoiled in that I am more of a pop and pour type, however, I do wonder what this will be like a few years down the road?

Deep purple in color with lovely aromas of dark cherry, cedar, and hidden toasty spiced vanilla undertones. Soft and tongue coating in the mouth with flavors of blackberry, plum, and finishing with long and firm tannins. Very nice wine for the price and drinking well right now with plenty left in the tank for aging another 3-5 years.

If you own multiple bottles of this wine, pick a nice evening and grill a Filet, NY, or Rib Eye w Portabello Mushroom or Blue Cheese reduction sauce and you will be rewarded.

Good texture, a little too much bell pepper for my taste.

I thought this wine was excellent. It is young but very well put together. I bought a case.

Root beer, molasses, blackberry, and sweet toasted oak on the nose. This was just released and is tasting very nice already after only 30 minutes of decanting. In the mouth you can tell that the wine needs time, but bursts with flavors of blue and black fruit, hint of white pepper, and a silky almost velvety texture. Excellent tannins and good length and balance. This wine will age nicely for maximum benefit.

5/18/12, 8:56 PM - After 3 hours, this wine is getting more balanced, harmonious, and increasing in velvety texture. Very nice.

This wine needs decanting. After 4 hours it is starting to soften. Blueberry, cassis, hint of floral and cedar on the nose. In the mouth, it's quite silky and has blue fruit with a hint of spice and cocoa. Lay this down or decant for hours for best enjoyment.

5/12/12, 5:48 PM - Started a little tart, but after decanting it went away.

I really like this wine and have the best neighbors who have become wonderful friends in the process. We celebrated on a random Tuesday evening and it was great.

The 07 had nice blue/black fruit, with a very plush aromatic nose with hints of toasty oak. In the mouth is pure silk laden texture followed by nice tannins and great length. More dark fruit is there, with some mocha nuances.

4/4/12, 2:58 PM - Only bad part is we only decanted for about 30. There is more potential in this wine.

Beautiful brunello. Drinking nicely with lots of red fruit, especially cherry and strawberry. Also a touch of french oak on the finish. I would have scored it higher had there been any hint of the non fruit aromas that i appreciate in the more complete brunellos, particularly smoke and smoked meat. Still these could emerge yet and could be even better then. 92+

Almost undrinkable. Not even close to what it should be. All alcohol on opening mixed with stale honey after sitting a couple hours. Terrible.

7 more bottles to try so I will try again.
  • Foodievines commented:

    2/26/12, 5:37 PM - Sounds like a flawed bottle. :-)

Didn't like as much as the last bottle. This one seemed heavy on the oak, fruit an alcohol. A bit out of balance and hard to enjoy with food, even a full-flavored chili. Maybe not a good pairing?
  • Foodievines commented:

2/18/12, 10:25 PM - Chile is hard. If there is a touch of high alcohol in a wine, it will amplify with chile. Rule of mine, always drink beer with chile. :-)
