30+ minute decant. Very muted French characteristics on both the nose and palate. If having blind might have guessed a Napa Blend. Very powerful and medium plus oak. Deep cherry fruit that hits you right in the face, but the finish is very short.

Half bottle. Very nice and crisp, and pretty much you get what you expect with this wine.

Very reserved. At the bottom end of the four wines we had the last few nights. Excellent texture but lacked depth, character, and those classic Spanish elements. Not bad, but for being the highest priced of the four it disappointed.

Another lovely wine! Better than last night but only marginally, so same score. These Spanish and Portuguese wines have the best textures. Definitely drink a little bit on the warmer side. This wine has more fruit and rust elements. Very refined and paired nicely with the suckling pig.

Our first night in Mallorca!

Great recommendation! Classic Spanish wine. Light in fruit but heavy on vanilla and oak. Exceptionally smooth and refined. Deep wine that smoothers the palate. Medium plus finish. Loved it!

Excellent! One of the best white wines I’ve ever had. Refined and full bodied. Age shows through nicely. High quality producer.

1hr decant. Lovely nose of earth and tar. Wine lacks depth and fruit, but does have some nice Bordeaux elements. There is even some teriyaki sauce, which I know is weird. Short finish. Wish this packed more of a punch!

Flawed unfortunately as I was really looking forward to this, especially seeing I loved it 3 years ago.

Pretty average all around. I had higher expectations, but they weren’t fulfilled. I have had no luck with higher priced white wines. Maybe I’m just drinking excellent value lower priced ones, because I find them much better!

Another massive wine from Australia. Surprised that it was only 14% OH. Decanted for an hour plus.

Deep purple color. Dark cherry and plum on the nose. Wine is exceptionally chewy. Took me forever to drink it. Elements of chocolate and herbs compliment the dark fruit. Lots of CDP characteristics obviously. Long finish. Very nice, but needs to be shared with like 8 other people.

Decanted 30+ minutes. Darkest wine color wise I’ve ever had. Pitch black almost. Extremely young wine even though it’s a 2005. Many years left! Nose was restrained and if I had the blind I probably would have guessed Australian Shiraz. Massive wine and tastes higher than 14% alcohol. Dark fruit and very thick. Give this guy ten more years.

I continue to love this!

30 minute plus decant. Dark cherry color. Classic Bordeaux nose filled with earth, smoke, and tar. Velvet on the palate with nice smoke. Could be deeper, but a tremendous wine!

I asked for different and interesting and got just that!

Modest gold color. Unique nose and full body. Complex and evolves in the palate. I honestly have trouble describing this as so much is going on.

Try it! Great rec from my local wine store!

Wife’s 40th Birthday Dinner!!

Lovely, deep nose of earth, smoke, and dark fruit. Wine has amazing texture and features a fruit forward style with some spice at the end. Somewhat reserved but the finish lasts a long time. I enjoyed it!

Absolutely massive wine!!

Dark purple color. Plums, prunes, alcohol, and baking spices on the nose. Concentrated and fruit forward. Dark fruit and spice on the palate. Insanely long finish.

2 glass minimum for how big this wine is! :) Might last till 2119!!

I really enjoyed this!

Dark, thick wine where you can really taste the Syrah and tannins. Spicy and full of fruit. Paired very nice with prosciutto wrapped chicken. Definitely young with many years left in it! Not bad at the restaurant list price of £50.

45+ minute decant and got better with air. Medium red color with ample brownish tones, which explains all the bricking. Nose was rather muted with some strawberry and cherry tones. Wine was light with a decent fruit to earth ratio. Shortish finish.

This is the bottle I opened but not the wine I’ve had! Totally faked or doctored.

I’ve had enough of this wine and comparable Bordeaux’s to know this was not right.

Probably an over the hill (2000-2004) Australian or California Cabernet that is over oak’d, fruit forward, from a mediocre producer. Outside chance it’s a Spanish Priorat.

Wine actually wasn’t bad, but not as advertised!!

Light yellow color, almost like straw or hay. Vibrant nose with lime, lemon, and the slightest hints of nail polish remover. Wine is well balanced with a subtle combination of cream, butter, and melons. Medium finish. Definitely a high quality producer. This is probably great and awesome value in 3yrs. I enjoyed it!

1 hour decant and wouldn’t go any longer. Dark cherry color. Nose is classic Bordeaux with earth, smoke, and huge flowers. Unique wine in that I get a lot of apples on the palate, but also tar and cedar. Long finish. I really enjoyed this!

Very nice! Paired excellent with the goose cassoulet.

Cherry color. Mix between Burgundy and Rhône. Nice fruit but a little on the tannic side. Some earthiness. A shortish finish. Probably improves some with age.

30+ decant. Solid nose of cherry fruit and tar. Wine had a surprisingly large amount of oak, vanilla, and coconut in addition to the fruit and smoke. Decent amount of spice too. Seemed very different from what my previous bottles tasted like. Maybe I should have followed my previous note and PnP’d! Wasn’t bad at all, just different from my expectations.

Solid wine! PnP. Dark purple color. Nose has oak and dark cherry. Oak continues to dominate on the palate with blackberry and cedar tones. Solid finish. Surprised modestly to the upside, but did follow a poor wine.

Have had massive bottle variation with this wine. Unfortunately this is on the negative side of that. Harsh on the palate with very little fruit. Probably over the hill, but should have held up longer. Wasn’t a disaster, but I’m done buying this.

Always love Gargiulo wines! This one probably needs some age though. Very vibrant and crisp, but not overly deep. Citrus flavors dominate with a medium finish. I enjoyed it, but probably on the lower side of QPR at $65.

30 minute decant, which was perfect. Quite possibly one of the best noses I’ve ever experienced from a Napa Cab!! This wine was very much like the ‘05 French Bordeaux’s I’ve been drinking. Purple color. Cherry fruit dominated by smoke, earth, and cedar. Tons of character and silky smooth. I truly believe these Napa Cabs need a lot of aging as is evident by this wine. Can’t remember why I stopped buying Trinchero, but I’m back! Truly enjoyed this!

1 hour decant. Pleasantly surprised. Not anything memorable, but pretty solid. Lacked fruit but had a nice texture to it that was enjoyable. Equally could have used more depth, but for the price was a solid CA blend. I would drink sooner rather than later.

I continue to be heart broken about Sequoia Grove wines. I used to love them, but seems like the quality has slipped and they are trying to do too much.

This wine is no different. Run of the mill $20 Napa Cab that unfortunately costs closer to $50.

Not sure what was different in 2017 but obviously really different experiences.

What a great surprise! Can’t remember where I read about this, could have been Delectable! It was great!

Medium purple color. Complex nose with cherry, tobacco, and some lovely floral elements. Wine was deep and had character. Cherry fruit with a texture that was pleasing and unique. Medium finish. I’ll buy more if I can find it.
