Honestly disappointed. Too bitter and tart for me. Maybe it wasn’t a good pairing with salty food or needed more age. Nose had elements of melon, butter, and citrus. Not my cup of tea.

45+ minute decant. Dark cherry color. Napa on the nose but Bordeaux on the palate. Smoke, cherry, menthol, and some earth throughout. More fruit forward that most Bordeaux’s and very chewy. Definitely has years left in it. Decent value.

1+hr decant. Definitely drinking young. Dark purple color. Nice mix of Bordeaux and Napa. Seems higher in OH than 13.5%. Nice deep cherry fruit with hints of smoke. Strangely I think it got worse with air. This was better than expected. Thanks

Very underwhelming for the price. Much better wines for half the price or more.

45+ minute decant and could use more. If I was having this blind I would have guessed Napa Blend. Almost black in color. Darkest wine I’ve ever seen. Nose is mild with cherry and tar. Flavor is fruit forward but fairly tame and average. Very short finish. Not bad, but horrible QPR. Can I get a refund?

30+ minute decant but could use more. Dark purple color. Cherry, oak, and cough medicine on the nose. Would not have guessed 12.5% OH from the nose. Smells like a Napa Cab. Wine lacks depth but is fairly fruit forward. Easy drinking with large CDP flavors and influence. Medium minus finish. Not my kind of Bordeaux, but not bad by any means.

2nd half bottle of the night. 30+ minutes open in the bottle. I’ll preface this by saying it followed a strong nosed Bordeaux. One that has me checking my shoes for cow shit!

Dark red color. Nose could be mistaken for Napa but has French elements. Vanilla and cherries dominate. Not kidding, tastes like cherry cheesecake! The OH is definitely noticeable even though it’s only 14%. Medium+ finish. Very nice but totally different from the preceding wine so it’s tough to rate, especially as this is too “American” for me.

What a lovely find today!! Was in search of a half bottle to pair with a half bottle I already had and found this gem @ £25! Now you have to like that classic, powerful French Bordeaux smell or you’ll absolutely hate this.

30+ minutes open in the bottle. Dark red color. The nose smells like you just walked through cow shit and then past a herd of horses on your way to Paris! Love it! Wine has depth and structure, but finish is medium at best. Excellent QPR and I plan to try more of the better vintages. Love when things like this happen!!

My go to favorite!! Tremendous QPR! 30+ minute decant and could have used more. Dark cherry color. Nose of cherries and earth. Wine is inky & deep with black cherries, tar, and tobacco. Medium+ finish. I’ll buy as much as I can find or afford!!

Great recommendation from the local wine shop! Light gold color. Vibrant nose. Nice balance between cream and tartness. Elements of pineapple, butter, and perfume. I really enjoyed this! Very similar to the Santenay I love!

Back to Bordeaux’s! Shocked this was as good as it was due to the vintage and the label. It was fantastic. PnP. Medium cherry color. Mild barnyard nose with some vegetables. Wine wasn’t that deep, but had that classic Bordeaux flavor. Modest complexity with little fruit. Medium finish. Drink soon, as it’s probably 1-3yrs past it’s prime.

Sad they aren’t making this any more :(. Always solid and excellent QPR. This had more vanilla and oak than usual, but did have nice texture. Inky with depth and medium+ finish.

Extremely tight would have benefited from a decant and more age. Very silky wine with lovely texture. Just lacked fruit and any discernible characteristics because of how wound up it was. I like these early 2000 Bordeaux’s and they are proving to be amazing but altering my wine opinions pretty significantly!

After snow in the US it’s great to be back in the UK with not a cloud in the sky and temps around 15 Celsius. Pretty much right down the middle on this guy. Does have more depth than most but pretty average.

1hr+ decant and could use more. Drinking nicely but has age left in it. Cherry and oak on the nose, with more subdued French tones than most of the Bordeaux’s I’ve had. It has a great texture that makes it consumable over a long time frame. Wine is very fruit forward with massive cherry. I’ve never had a wine that smoothers and encapsulates the palate like this one. Small sips are like full mouthfuls. Long finish.

Medium red color with brownish accents. Sampled over a 2+ hour decant. Massive nose of chocolate that evolves to amaretto and you can smell the 16.5 OH. Syrupy and very port like. Medium minus finish which is surprising. Always nice to try something new as this might be my first Amarone experience. Thanks MG!!

45+ minute decant and that was perfect. Definitely has years left in it, but not as many as you would think. Classic Bordeaux nose. Wine is filled with tar, graphite, cherry, and smoke. Medium plus finish. More power than I would have expected, but quite lovely.

30+ minute decant. Dark purple color. A lovely nose that is killing me because I can’t describe it. It’s sweet with fruit, brown sugar, and caramel. Reminds me of two things but can’t make the connection. Fairly reserved on the palate compared to the deep nose. Hints of spice and OH. Medium finish. Not bad!

30+ minute decant and could use more. Darkest wine I have ever had color wise. Pretty close to oil, in both color and texture :). Not much with regards to nose other than massive dark cherry. Jammy wine that really coats the palate and the stomach. Wish it had more contrast, as it’s pretty one dimensional, power and dark cherry. You can’t taste the 15.5 OH, but you definitely feel it. This is not a wine to have alone, so drink with friends or else you’ll feel it. 2-3 glasses was all I could stomach because of its magnitude. This wine is the apex of power and robustness. It could probably last for a century, no kidding! Just not my style unfortunately.

If a white wine ever required a decant this might be that wine. So so the first hour, but after that it was much better. Darkish yellow color. Buttery nose. Thick wine with some acidity but dominated by butter and cream. Medium finish. Better wines at this price point in my mind.

One word describes this: okay. Dark red color. Decanted for 30+ minutes but I would try much much longer. Nose has tar and cherries in it. Wine is very reserved with a little medicine flavor on top of the cherries. Medium finish. Maybe my expectations were too high, but no depth to this guy. Better wines at this price point.

I’m done with Italian wines until we visit Italy again or someone teaches me! Very disappointed in this bottle. Medium red color. 30+ minute decant. Weak nose of cherry and cocoa. Very high in OH and is very light. No flavor whatsoever and zero finish. I don’t think it was flawed by any means; just poor. Back to French Bordeaux’s tomorrow!!

375ml. Always one of my favs! Many years left as it felt young, but I loved the lushness and power. Dark purple, almost black color. More Napa Cab like than French Bordeaux. Excellent black cherry and blueberry fruit. Very long finish. Glad I have another!

Over the hill. I’m not a huge CDP fan, but this was overwhelmed with prunes and plums, and had an unattractive brownish hue to it. Way too sweet and somewhat thin. Not undrinkable, but did pour 1/3 of the bottle out.

You also might want to drink sooner rather than later, although the finish was definitely long. Loved it!!

45+ minute decant. Definitely give this baby a lot of air. Dark cherry color. Nose that if I were tasting blind I would have guess Napa. Very fruit forward with dark cherry and oak. Happy New Year!! Always good, but not as stellar as previous bottles. Dark purple color. Phenomenal nose that is very rustic. No decant and wine was very reserved. Cork came out a little too easy, which probably had something to do with it. Still good, but a little disappointing.

It’s Neal so of course it’s insane! 30+ minute decant and could use more. Dark purple color. Strong nose of cedar, smoke, and tar. Wine has excellent texture, lovely dark fruit, and nice smoke. Medium finish. Great wine, but not sure it’s worth double the cost of the standard Neal Cab. Probably .1 or 1pt higher than the standard Neal Cab. Begs the general question of what is .1 or 1pt worth? I’ll chime in at $25, but it’s definitely not linear by any means. Neal is amazing!!

Now this is what I’m talking about! Wonderful! Dark purple color. 1+ hour decant and could use even more. Drinking beautifully but still has years left in it! Massive cigar box on the nose. Wine is very Bordeaux like as it is deep, well structured, and has an excellent balance of fruit and smoke. If you drink it fast it tastes like the best bbq in the world! Long finish. Absolutely love this and it will only get better!!

Merry Christmas Eve!! Disappointed in this guy :( Almost white in color. Nose of a weak Riesling. Hits the palate like a razor blade. Subtle grassy and lemony hints, but the OH dominants. More like a vodka or strange tequila, than wine. I’ll chalk it up to a bad bottle. Oh well.
