2019 Beau Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon Cult Napa Valley
Drinking this outside in the last 40 minutes of daylight and it’s very pretty. The nose is very expensive and inviting with cocoa dusted sweet fruit and wildflowers in a cedar box. The palate is medium bodied+ with the fruit gaining richness on the finish with a solid underpinning of firm yet plush tannins. The fruit profile is plum, currant and black cherry. A half hour of airtime has done wonders and added a point, so do decant if possible.

4/26/22, 10:31 AM - Drank the last 2 glasses last night and it was much more fruit forward, cocktail style. Also found the receipt showing $29! Going to pickup a few more.

2013 Sanguis Misfit Central Coast Syrah Blend, Syrah
Calmed down since last taste 5 years ago. Still looking gorgeous with a reticent but inviting nose. Viognier taking over the month-feel properly. Smoky fat, olives and cherries define the flavor profile. Getting better with time in a big glass.

10/2/20, 9:27 PM - Two hours in wishing I’d decanted, the nose is no longer reticent. This is a fat juicy Syrah now.

Red
2012 Martinelli Zinfandel Martinelli Road Russian River Valley
Such a gorgeous looking wine. I’m drinking this in lieu of a cocktail tonight and at 17.3% it delivers.

9/17/20, 7:41 PM - Drinking the second half tonight and feel like bumping the score a few points. Such a lovely wine, so quaffable.

Extracted the soft cork with a DeVine opener and it still broke in half then decanted to find absolutely no sediment. The color is a sexy black ruby and looks fantastic. The nose has earthy, cedary, dark fruit focus with hedonistic extracted ripe Cabernet underpinnings. The palate is rich and luscious with plum and blackberry fruit and notes of sweet tobacco, dark chocolate baking spice. In great shape and could age for 5 more years.

5/7/19, 7:30 PM - Saved about 8oz in a half bottle and am upping the score to 100! Signature style is really coming through with black olive truffles and more blue fruit. Really perfect right now.

2008 Sanguis Syrah The Prophet California
What a sexy wine! The weight, viscosity and clarity are absolutely gorgeous. The nose starts with a dusty blackberry compote with pork smoke and that glue that kids sniff to get high. The attack comes on with dry mineral laden bramble dusted in cocoa. The finish brings black figs and sweet tobacco wrapped in a juicy blanket of mushroomy earthiness that dries up nicely after 45 seconds.

1/21/18, 6:36 PM - This went remarkably well with dinner consisting of a hanger steak with red (this) wine shallot sauce, sweet potatoes and green beans. After some air time it’s packing fudge on the finish. One of the best Syrahs I’ve ever had.

2009 Turley Zinfandel Rattlesnake Ridge Howell Mountain
Dark purple with black edges mostly opaque at 5 oz in glass. It's a bit grainy with a bit of sediment left in the bottle. The nose is a bit tarry and smokey with super ripe black currant jam and dark chocolate. The palate is very lively and zippy at first with a strong acid streak leaving behind a fat glycerine lick soft finish. There's plenty of pepper and spice making it fatty food friendly. You can feel the full throttled extraction weighing in at 16%. It's 84 degrees outside and drinking best around 60-62 degrees F. I'd be drinking sooner than later if I had any more.

6/25/16, 8:10 PM - This really came round after an hour of airtime. The graininess is very fine and lively.

Red
2013 Turley Zinfandel Old Vines California
Quite liking it. Most gorgeous wine I've seen all year. Perfume Valdiguié. Good year Zinfandel.

1/15/16, 10:52 AM - I wrote the note on my iPhone after drinking most of the bottle and accidentally hit the flawed button. There's only been 12 days this year, but it was a remarkably gorgeous looking wine :)
