Good earthy pinot in typical California style. bright cherry up front. Paired well with lentil soup.

Drank a little early. Nice, but strong fruit. Another year or two and would be perfect. Drank with homemade mac & cheese and Italian sausage. Nice combination. Looking forward to another bottle next year.
Red
nice cranberry red color, light. good value. Not as complex or earthy as some grenache, but a quality wine.

From VSJ:
This earthy and very dark in color wine offers a heavy, chewy style. There are aromas of blackberry, tobacco, tar and autumn leaves. The mouth demonstrates blackberry, black pepper, truffle and oak. This is a great wine to pair with a protein rich meal and heavy game dishes.
J's notes: very dark, needs a lot of decanting.

2009 Pear Valley Distraction Paso Robles Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
1/5/2014 - bendres Likes this wine:
90 points
From Pear Valley:
On the nose, blackberry, cherry tobacco, and dark chocolate are followed by a faint hint of mint. Initially soft on the palate, then opens with wild berries, black currants and Morello cherries. The fruit is supported by a firm undercurrent of earth, warm saddle leather and forest floor. This is a wine of power and grace that will continue to develop over the next 8 years.

Oakey aromas; don't serve too cold; when it warms up a bit it has nice aroma. Here are the notes from Cass:
The richer of our white wines, the 2010 Rockin' One Blanc displays it's oak-aged profile, with creamy toasty notes of butterscotch and honey, tightly knit with peach and ripe apple aromas are complimented by brighter notes of lemon and lime, with a finish that screams of fresh, honey-glazed baklava.
