Getting a deep opulent bouquet of licorice, plum, blueberry and violet on the nose. Fruits are dancing on the palate with a strong note of oak mixed in. There is just the right amount of acidity and a bit of graphite. This wine is absolutely delightful right now. Has gotten so much better than a few months ago. A solid 92.

Cherry, licorice, & tobacco on the nose. Nice balance of dried strawberries, tart cherries & currants on the palate interplaying with some pepper & spice. Slightly short finish with a little too much dominance from tannins & alcohol. Give another couple years. Overall fairly nice wine.

A nice solid wine. Not as full bodied as previous vintages, but very pleasing on the palate. Has started to settle down and is drinking nicely compared to 6 months ago. 1 hr decant is about right at the moment. No formal tasting note while drinking.

Decanted in bottle for 3 hrs before firs sip. Deep dark purple color. Aromas of plum, blueberry, and violet. Similar notes on the palate with a little coco and tobacco. Super rich and decadent. So much going on it's overwhelming to break down. A different experience with every sip. Drank over 3 nights with consistent experience. No formal notes taken. Celebration of the birth of our first son: Lincoln.

Aromas of smoke, partly dried prunes, wet pine needles, and something sweet and syrupy. On the palate a lot of smoke and wood intertwine with fruit. Hard to discern individual characteristics, more muddled than complex. Late on the palate filberts shine though just before being whisked away by a tannic abrupt finish. Decent at $10 a bottle.

Bubble Yum bubble gum mixes with dark chocolate, tobacco, spice, cassis and raisin in the glass. On the palate strong spices of black pepper, hot peppers, nutmeg and oregano intertwine before giving way to a more subtle blend of prunes, mulberries and medium grained tannins. Nice interesting wine but lacking that something special, still a fantastic value at the price.

Dark, almost completely opaque purple color. A real tooth coater here. On the nose a touch of herbaciousness, particularly celery and parsley with a bit of pepper mix with cranberry and rose-petal. On the palate strong spices and rich medium grained tannins envelope the palate with just a bit of blueberry and fine oak. NIce long lasting but slightly alcoholic finish. Best after 2010.

Blackberry jam on freshly made toast mingled with a little lightly toasted oak and paprika on the nose. Sugared prunes, spices and a bit of blueberry on the palate. Large grained tannins lightly coat the teeth but slightly over-dominate the wines flavors. Finish is short and too tannic leaving a sawdust like feeling on the palate.

On the nose heave fine tobacco smoke and wood blend with dark chocolate covered fruits and coffee. A phenomenal blend of tobacco coffee and a complex layering of currents, plum, apricots, and mulberry on the palate. Complexity continues to increase as the wine swirls in the mouth bringing you back for more. Great lingering finish with well integrated tannins. Only limiting quality is a tad bit of over-sweetness developing late in the midpalate but continuing though the finish. Decanted for 1.5 hrs. Drinking wonderfully now -2011

Aromas of fine cigar tobacco smoke, prunes, and strawberry jam. On the palate similar smoke mingles with spice and under-ripe cherry. The palate however is quickly dominated by chewy tooth coating tannins. Meeds more time to mature, at least another 3-5 years. Decanted in bottle for 2 hrs. 88-92 pts.
