This bottle didn't show well, even time in decanter didn't help. (The 1999 Corison easily topped it, that night.)

We were too eager and pop-and-poured, in spite of it's age, this wine really needed some time in the decanter

Drinkable, but past its prime - useful for educating on that "old wine" nose and flavor.

Defied the CellarTracker drinking window and was surprisingly good.

Did not decant. Took an hour or two to come into its own - before that it seemed a touch past its prime. One of those "I could just smell this all night" wines.

a bit tight at first, opened up in the glass

When I first opened this bottle I wondered why I'd liked it before. There was a sour aftertaste that I've noticed with some inexpensive (cheap) amontillado. But after a couple days in the fridge, that went away and it became the pleasant Madeira-like wine I'd enjoyed previously.

I just really enjoy this wine. It's a good value when it can be found on sale at $16 a bottle.

Nose has a bit of a Pinot-like funk, with a flavor to match. Not to my taste - would not buy again.

Broke the cork, so decanted to another 750ml bottle. Drank well in spite of the forced aeration.

a decent wine - especially after being disappointed by the Firefly cab

The color was watery/transparent. Seemed thin in the mouth. Less cab-like than the Firefly 2006 Syrah.

Well past its prime. Not vinegar, but on its way.

Tight out of the bottle. Having gotten home after dancing seven hours, I collapsed in bed with half a glass left. That remaining half glass was actually better in the morning.

The first whiff directly out of the bottle had just a little bit of heat, and then it quickly settled down.

A very good accompaniment to the four dinner salads (two with meat and two veg) we had with dinner. A good value.

Nice - it's like a simple, low-alcohol madeira - very good at the price.

My first madeira. I have no basis for comparison, but we all enjoyed it a lot. A bit sweet, but not cloying. It was an excellent way to cap off a wine tasting.
