Very good central otago Pinot noir and fruit is packed in. Not surprised it was drinking very well and amazing with pink Lamb cutlets. Find some!

Outstanding blend!
I can attest that the 2013 was a stellar vintage and the Ironclad is deserving of such wonderful fruit. Impressive and pleased I have two more bottles cellared. Drink now till end of 2022.

Cabernet Sauvignon has been planted in the Barossa since at least 1888. The warm climate here means Barossa Cabernet wines are rich and full-flavoured. The fruit for our Cabernet Sauvignon comes predominantly from vineyards along Rifle Range Road, just behind our winery. The ‘Biscay’ soil of the Rifle Range vineyards is heavy, black, cracking clay, lending the wine its rich and earthy character. It is a generous wine when young, but will really show its best if given a chance to mature in the bottle a little longer

Red berries and dark cherry dominate the nose, firm mid palate tannins lead to pleasing acidity on the back.

All fruit is hand-picked in the morning and immediately de-stemmed with no crushing. In tank the fruit will have a small addition of sulphur. Some batches were left to cold soak for approximately 4-5 days, whilst others started fermentation immediately. Natural and cultured yeasts were used on different ferments. Pigage and delastage were used for cap management. Some ferments will undergo post maceration, depending on the tannin structure and the style of the wine. On completion of fermentation the wine was gently pressed and transferred to 30% new, 30% one year old and the balance in two and three year old oak, After 11 months of barrel maturation, the wine was assembled and bottled without filtration or fining.

Peaking now. An outstanding cab sav and in the big format (magnum) it has been aged perfectly. The structure of the wine and intensity of the fruit has mellowed to be a stellar example of a coonawara cab sav. Huzzah!!

One of the best wines I have ever had. Delicious and complex with a long dry finish. Strong flavors include licorice and dark jammy fruit. Hazzah 99/100

Light green-gold in colour with a generous juicy bouquet of stone fruit flowers and gentle oak-infused citrus, this wine's complex, mealy texture has developed through quiet natural fermentation and maturation in fine quality 100% new French oak hogsheads. The balanced, satisfying mouth feel remains an essential element of the delicate power so typical of this Bloodwood style. A complete wine now, medium term cellaring will further benefit this wine.

Incredible structure and aroma. The 2013 is drinking very well now. The taste was dark berry and red fruit with lovely vanilla oak. This is central otago Pinot noir on show!

Outstanding wine. The Shiraz shone through but the Cabernet allowed it to be incredibly smooth. The decant was 3 hours to get all of the aromas singing but this really hits the mark. The 2015 vintage was a stellar year so I rate this with the basket press of 2013 or 2014.

I love aged Semillon but this one might have been left a little long. The aromas were great but the palate lacked punch. I got some hits of honey and toast but not enough to wow me. I’ll try the 2009 next weekend with fingers crossed!

Outstanding! After a 2.5 hour decant the wine opened and I could enjoy the incredible fruit and spicy notes. I would love to have waited another year but wine is to be consumed and this central otago Pinot noir was memorable.

Lovely red blend. Maybe a bit young to drink now (May 2020) and I believe will develop for 5+ years in the right cellaring conditions

Rich and svelte at once, its cherry-berried flavours, cedar wood and sweet spice notes entirely seductive both in isolation and in team. This is the way to combine the swishness of oak, the sweet-sour tang of varietal fruit, and studs of spice and leaves. The statement it makes on quality is clear.’

From MV6 clone vines planted in 1997 in Merricks North; 100% destemmed, open-fermented, hand-plunged, matured for 15 months in French barriques. The palate is outstanding in depth, line and length, the fragrance growing each time it was tasted. Great structure. 13.5% alc; screwcap

Second bottle much better. Fruit was developed and Grenache was shining over mataro. I won’t buy again as the Glaetzer Wallace is a much better buy at same price point.
