2nd day the reductive notes are gone and the mid palate has put on some weight. Some apple/pear flavors beginning to come through.
This is a very different varietal that will take some more exposure to understand. That this doesn't hit the usual aromatic and sensory buttons may be why some tasters are disappointed so far.

After several WB tasters panned the wine I had to try for myself. PnP
Pale yellow; hint of smoke, reminds me of a single malt, also whiffs of Riesling like fusel oil; super dry tropical fruit flavors, the driest Gerwurztraminer imaginable; tart apple acidity, but also a little waxy sensation. Two hrs later it had settled into a more young Sauvignon Blanc profile

decanted 30 minutes: dark ruby red; complex nose of herbs, red fruits and spices; flavors carried through to the palate with more red plum,cherry/ berry notes; incredibly rich and full bodied, very smooth texture;integrated tannin's, no rough edges; very velvety ,long finish with red cherry fruit to the end.

Garnet red; nose of strawberry compote- cooked fruit; very sweet, easily a "late harvest zin" as was the style back when; subtle petulance on the palate; sugary finish. Not a wine I expected from JS.
16%alc does show that high octane wine is not really a new phenomenon.
There should have been a warning on the label..

very dark ruby red with slight bricking at the edge;30 min decant(too short I bet); nose of brambles(underbrush), blackberries, black cherries, nail polish, polish blew off later, then dark chocolate notes; dried cherry fruit, black plums; prominent dusty tannins which persisted to the end; overall still a delicious wine but it's slipping over the hill

With all respect to the 2010 review of 1991 Napa cabs by JG my experience with this bottle has been totally different 9 yrs later.
Cork pulled for 1 hr then poured. Color ruby edge to the rim no bricking; nose a little funky, red berries, brambles; a little simple, dried red fruits, med finish, later was very much like a 30yr Graves, complex tertiary herbaceous/ mineral notes; at 2+ hrs the wine woke up, dark chocolate on the nose, young red plum flavors and a smooth long finish, complex; very smooth long plummy finish. Tasted 15 yrs younger than it is, (based on my 40+ yrs of drinking Napa Cabs)

Ruby red; nose of red cherries, light cola/root beer note too maybe cardamom; subtle spritziness on the palate which faded by the 2nd glass' rich dark cherry flavor, with mild wood character almost like a maraschino flavor but not too strong. Smooth transition to the finish, sl hot.
Wonderful PN in the fruity style more "duck with cherry sauce" than beef with mushrooms.

Very much a savory, mature profile but the structure is great- can't get this experience without age!

30 min decant, dark ruby red;initial nose very herbaceous later more black berries but still a herbal note, sage?; med body but great with lamb chops; nice body but , while not weak, would seem thin to a new world cab drinker; nice med long finish on the sage/rosemary side of things.
Has plenty of time to do the tertiary, leather/cigar box thing

decanted 30 min, not much change from opening- ruby red with early bricking at the edge, nose is strong cigar( green) tobacco; sl prune flavor, mild red currant taste, body/finish is balanced but not my style.
Bubbles at the rim after swirling seen in reds starting to break down- drink up

P& P over 90 minutes Med Gold; nose of light grapefruit and other citrus but refined and later a hint of (oak) vanilla; palate is in balance with citrus but also some spice and sense of fruitier elements like semillion; very crisp but not too tart, acidity showing more influence here; palate cleansing; for me- not an NZ fan- the age / fruit balance is in a very nice place

P&P, over 30 minutes- Dark Ruby red no bricking at the edges; subtle nose of stems and menthol- not the same but similar to Heitz Martha's 74 when young; black berries and dark plum fruits, very in balance with the end palate; soft tannins lead to a medium long rich finish. My last bottle, wish I had more.

Chunky sediment making decanting easy, 20 minutes; brick red;
nice fruit, cherry and red currents but softer than before; body very smooth, mild tannin's with balanced mouth feel; med finish; very elegant, entering into the final stages of development- from here on out it becomes a balanced wine, increasingly anonymous as to origin. One of the most underrated wines in my cellar

dark ruby red; nose is pure vanilla; flavors are tight cranberry like with a hint of gooseberry(astringency); flavor is very primary between the barrel and young fruit; undeveloped; body is impressive for the young age, relatively smooth finish compared to the 2000 and 94; does that make it more promising??

decanted 2+ hrs- nose smells like a 5 y/o cab blend- maybe the effects of the barrels still; predominant impression on the palate is tannin, really like a young new world wine, without the comparison with 50 and almost 70 yr old siblings I never would have understood what an infant this is. As usual, score is based on "here and now".

Garnet red; have to work to get the bouquet; not much offered on the palate- very closed wine for the age! Given that wines much older were so alive, I'd gamble on this one waking up in a decade or so, maybe needed more air, decanted 2 hrs

decanted 90 minutes-brick red with brown edge; raspberry nose, surprisingly primary; palate fruit not as strong as on the nose but a lovely silky texture and long finish. relatively light fruit makes me think the time is now, but the weight on the palate suggests an elegant, slow fade to OTH.

As the first in 2019 I can't say there has been any noticeable aging since the last notes. This is a well balanced, harmonious wine that is years from hitting it's tertiary peak where I will await it with my last bottle in 5 - 10 yrs. However, it is aging much more slowly than I am....

p&p but enjoyed over 2 hrs which made big difference.
Light yellow; nose of lime and papaya, later a anise/root beer note developed that was out of character for chardonnay but a pleasant surprise in the wine, it didn't last more than 30 minutes. Taste and body feeling was mostly on the acidic side- valued by many but not me. I think this really needs 5-10 yrs to meld into a outstanding chardonnay. Won't drink any more for a long time....

Dark red, no bricking; nose of cassis, dark chocolate,Bing(dark) cherries; rich cherry/black berry flavor- like cherry bonbon without the sugar; very rich full body on the palate, velvety but has good balance and lively finish, 30 second finish. A Napa cab in the style of Ch Margaux.

Increased score based on it's slow and elegant evolution.

P&P, initial nose very pleasant floral, mild piney notes; pomegranate and tart cherry fruit followed by dusty tannins; medium light body and fast but pleasant finish. A medium weight Napa cab at this age but well worth the tab for those that like some development from primary character in their wines.

Ruby red with bricking at the edge; red cherry liquor nose with underlying herbaceous and menthol notes; well balanced body, fruity ripe red cherry, red raspberry flavor probably enhanced by a little residual sugar; good balance on the mid palate and a soft tannic finish, showing very well for it's age. Not for purists but hedonists would love it. Maybe the Tuscan Silver Oak?

pale yellow, tasted over 3 hrs. Opened nose of honey and tropical flowers with a hint of nuttiness, at 3 hrs the flowers were gone with an lite honeysuckle nose and ripe green apple flavor. Mid palate crisp, rounded fruity melon flavors probably due to the Musque but enough acidity to be refreshing. Lite body more green melon than peach, balanced finish, not tasting tired at all at 10 yrs. Estimated drinking age for these wines is seriously under estimated on CT.

CT drink date of 2025 is too long, I'd say drink as soon as you have a chance to enjoy a subtle, elegant Napa cab.
