btl came fro OWC in pristine condition.
It was really refined, beautiful on the nose with multiple layers with some fruits left, cherry in particular, lot's of tertiary aromas on the palate, forest, tobacco and a nice long finish.
This bottle was like an encounter with an old friend, cosy and smooth, very comfortable

Nothing wrong with this wine but better plan to decant it for a couple of hours at least.
Pair quite well with strong flavored meat like Lamb or game

Very nice nose definitely fruity with blackberry and raspberry but also some wet forest. Tannins are strong and when too cold at the beginning almost had an aftertaste of bitterness but when warming up in the glass became much rounder and allowed the fruits to surface a lot more.
This 2001 is very approachable and can be enjoyed right now.

Consumed from a half btl, and was just opening it for a casual drink but was really surprised blown away. The color was deep purple of the black-current. The first impression on the nose was that of violet, but on the palate we could appreciate some very velvety tannins.
It was very typical of a Margaux and quite easy to recognize. It opened up the the glass and kept a very strong and powerful black fruit flavors of Black-current and Black cherry. Really strong condensed fruit, very jammy I guess. Now I have to find where I got this to try to get a case or two.

Tasted it in half btl, and showed quite a lot of maturity. Nice yeasty characteristic, small bubbles and distinct flavor. A little to sweet for my taste now that I am becoming a big fan or zero dosage or extra-brut. They do make a zero-dosage version of the exact same cuvee.

1976 1st Growth tasting (Hong Kong (home)): Typical Pauillac and Lafite characteristics. Plum on the nose. Strong forrest and cigar box tertiary aromas, very elegant still. Compared with the Mouton of the same vintage, it was a little disapointed especially since it goes for 3 times more than the Mouton which is very under-rated. Still a very special wine to enjoy with very good friends. Also fully mature, and should not be kept long.

1976 1st Growth tasting (Hong Kong (home)): Plum on the nose. In the mouth you can still enjoy some little fruit and even some acidity, but again mostly some tertiary aromas such as leather and tobacco. Nice and long finish. It is very under-rated on all review and rating, but we enjoyed it so much that we opened a second bottle :-) Not something to keep a very long time, but given the low price placed on this, if you come across some do not hesitate to buy it just to enjoy now.

Tasted with wagyu filet seved with a chestnut/smoked gooseliver puree

1976 1st Growth tasting (Hong Kong (home)): Still drinking very nicely, with enough fruit and acidity left. Of course fully matured but much better than expected given the middle shoulder level of the bottle and the overal poor publicity going around this wine. Lot's of tertiary aromas, wet leaves in the forest, and cigar leaves (tabaco). Drink it now and enjoy. Do no keep long.

1976 1st Growth tasting (Hong Kong (home)): This is a fantastic wine the special cuvee white from La Nerthe at Chateauneuf du Pape. Nice gold straw colour, with little oak and toasted brioche accompanied with white flowers. Paired with a coliflower soup with vanilla flavour and an espouma of pink grapefruit with cayen paper. Having tasted much older vintages, it showed very well already but can probably improve for many years to come. A truly special wine for connoisseur.

1976 1st Growth tasting (Hong Kong (home)): Nice fresh Champagne, perfect for aperitif. Very fine bubbles coming up very powerfully in a long and narrow Champagne flute. This Champagne has been my default Champagne for years, much more precise and fresh than all standards ones, with freshness and nice white flower and yellow fruit aromas.

Light yellow colour, strong citrus flavour and not too powerful on the nose. The palate was quite fresh with some oak giving it some length. Identified as one of the new world possible in the blind tasting. Nicely made.

It was very yeasty, with a nose rather flat compare to the other two youngers Burgundies it was served next to. Thought maybe it was still close and too young, but in fact I don't think it will improve that much. As we tasted all the wines blind on the event, it was definitely not identified as one of the Grand Cru, a tad disappointed

Darker goldey golour. Strong yeasty aroma, very very pleasant wine. Kept some for later to enjoy with food and it paired much better. He very beautiful champagne but not something I would like to drink all the time as it is too charismatic and of course comes at a premium.

Nice Gold straw colour, and a very beautiful honeysuckle flavour. Nice brioche (butter and roasted hazelnuts) and a little yeast. Quite pleasant on the palate, still fresh and possibly young and not fully open. Plenty of potential tough.

Light golden straw colour, fantastic and surprising nose, some honeysuckle and mandarin, and other flowers. Slightly buttery with a toasted brioche (hazelnut) aroma. It is the second time we tasted this wine, last time I ordered a case the next day, I think I want to do this again and will probably convince some of our friend to do that too. I cannot do justice to this wine but I trust Mike and Jean-Paul will help out. For my part I will rate it above what I usually rate great white, truly a fantastic wine, a very well kept secret i.e. under-rated and great value for money.

Citrus aroma with brioche aromas, maybe toasted brioche. Colour was quite pale compare to the other gold Chassagne, it was quite fresh and precise both on the nose and the palate. Still young I tend to believe it will get a lot better over the next few years, but was defiinitely a superbe wine very well made. (very difficult for me to rate in the 90s especially young white wine)

Gold straw colout. Very rich on the palate, I believe someone said fatty, It felt to me very buttery, much like a Californian chardonnay but less oaky. Had a zest of Mandarin on the nose. It was at its best we the chef Patrick served the appetizer that came with a puff pastry, the richness and the butter of the pastry really paired beautifully with this wine, and we were told that in general it is a great pairing with Chassagne Montrachet in general. On its own, it was less precise and sharp than the second Chassagne we enjoyed on the day.

This house of Champagne and this Grande Reserve in particular converted me to zero dozage. So crisp and fresh, as some say, this is seeing the champagne naked as it was made without added sugar (zero-dosage) and what a beautiful body. Tiniest bubbles and very pleasant. Great as an aperitif, what else can I say, I would like this to be my new default Champagne.

White Truffle dinner at Chez Patrick Sun Street (Chez Patrick Restaurant Sun Street. Hong Kong): It had all the recognizable characteristics of this great wine, very typical St Julien especially on the nose, so fragrant and approachable right away. As I wrote, we probably did not do it justice having had 6 bottles prior to this one, and it really was top quality. From what I remember, raspberry was definitely something very pleasant that came at first, still nice and long after taste for this wine that probably still has at least 10 years or more of superb showing.

White Truffle dinner at Chez Patrick Sun Street (Chez Patrick Restaurant Sun Street. Hong Kong): It was quite different on the nose than the other wine of the dinner, but probably also because by then we had been pairing with stronger dishes and then the Cheeses of course. On the palate, being so mature and smooth, I am quite sure that it could be easily mistaken with old world's best Bordeaux. I guess served on its own a couple of months ago, it was really the smoother wine of the night and by far the older while this time, coming after a COS 66 and a Pommerol 82 the reference was quite different. It did show some very nice cedar wood and spice aromas, and was probably more on the black fruits, like the Blackberry. Paired very well with the cheeses, next time I will probably serve this earlier in the meal, and not next to too many other red wine

White Truffle dinner at Chez Patrick Sun Street (Chez Patrick Restaurant Sun Street. Hong Kong): Very nice, and definitely more on the red fruit, somewhere in between the raspberry and the rich cherry.
As some might know I am not a huge Pommerol fan, but it was really a superb wine showing really perfectly. I wouldn't say it will not last much longer, but I doubt it will improve, it is really fully matured and showing all it can be

White Truffle dinner at Chez Patrick Sun Street (Chez Patrick Restaurant Sun Street. Hong Kong): We did not decant, and poured from the bottle slowly. It took a while to open but still had a lot of acidity and fruit but was of course mostly tertiary aromas, Leather, Leather and more Leather :-) a hint of liquorice remained and some distant spices which are the characteristic of the COS usually. The pairing with the scrambled eggs mixed with morels and black truffle this time with those wet leaves and forest aromas was stunning.
89 pts (probably because I had it before and think it did not show its best tonight. The uniqueness of tasting this wine and the great food pairing are probably worth 2 more point for 91pts tonight but on its own I must stay with 89pts)

White Truffle dinner at Chez Patrick Sun Street (Chez Patrick Restaurant Sun Street. Hong Kong): Not bad, but just not very interesting and not pairing at all with the food. it changed quickly in the glass, still had some freshness and minerality initially but the oxidized flavor took over very rapidly and it went all down hill from there. The comparison to the Chevalier Montracher afterwards did not help at all of course.

The deep red / burgundy color was announcing a rich and fruity wine still very powerful.
No acidity though, and having decanted it a couple of hours, it was starting to really open on the nose.
Open a second btl later on, and clearly it would have been better it we had decanted this one too but with time it quickly improved rapidly in the glass and open nicely. Surely will continue to age very well and improve for some years, unfortunately I have drank all I had, maybe time to look for some more :-)

Open for 2 hours before serving, and the nose was really opening nicely. Still nice fruity and rich in secondary aromas. It was much nicer than the last bottle I opened a few months ago. On the palate on its own it was also nice but felt a little acidic at first, always very earthy but once tasted with food and we had this wine as I like to do it marrying St Estephe with Cheeses like Epoisse and Camembert, it really matched magically.
A nice surprise after the recent disappointment.
I am not looking forward to my next btl.

After a disapointed experience just a month ago, I was eager to open an other one to confirm that the problem of the previous bottle was just related to a poor cork issue. Although the cork was dry and came in powder being stuck on the edge of the bottle, the bottle itself was in perfect condition. The nose was very pleasant right away and got better with more red fruit coming through after a while in the glass. Color was still nice strong red. It is showing age but won't probably improve but i would expect will maintain at that level for possibly 5 more year. It's delicate, but still powerful. Enjoyed how it evolved in the glass throughout the dinner.

Opened this half bottle to follow a full bottle of the 1993 vintage. I was a little closed at first and would recommend decanting first. I thought the 1999 vintage was probably better balanced than the 1993, nice red fruit flavors but obviously still younger and should be improving in the coming years. However it is already a very pleasant drink now that it is approaching 10 years.

Drank at Crown wine cellar to enjoy with a cuban cigar. It would have really benefited from being decanted earlier, but 90 minutes later, for the last glass, it had become very smooth, the acidity had gone and nice aromas of cherry and cedar wood were revealed. It is really good value and drinks very well now.

2008 White Truffle dinner paired with incredible selection of wines. This was the 4 wines we tasted on that night, and it was compared with Pichon Lalande 1982 and Lynch Bages 1982. Very surprisingly, the Pichon 1979 for most we more enjoyable than the Pichon 1982, and some even preferred it over the Lynch bage 1982. It was well rounded, plenty of aromas in particular licorice, cigar box and leather but still had enough acidity and some fruit left to make it so nice. I am definitely going to try to find some more as it was my last bottle.

Good vintage and even the second wine is lasting and developping quite nicely. Took it out of the cellar probably a little to late so was probably too cold to start but got better as it warmed in the decanther. I will do a better job when I open my next bottle to share the aromas and flavour. It's a good second for everyday or simple evening. We used it as a second bottle to finish an evening with some cheese.

This was a surprise, I was definitel not expecting much, it was not the greatest year and also a year that was drinking early so worried it would be worst than past its prime but not even enjoyable. The nose was actually still quite pleasant and showed some typical structure. On the palate it was not as nice as the nose would have led you to believe with a dry feeling staying in your mouth. Still a pleasant drink, I would definitely advise to drink it now or soon, clearly not getting any better, surprised it lasted so well. It was my only bottle, glad I drunk it.
