Red fruits, roses, tea, licorice. Magically good. Very balanced with sandy, fine tannins and robust fruit. The acidity is incredible. Long, fine aftertaste with lots of herbs and licorice. This is a wine that will only get better with time. Incredible vintage and producer.

1/30/2024 - Ennels Likes this wine:

Dark berries, chocolate, oak, vanilla, and coffee. Better balanced than a year ago. The oak feels calmer, but there are very heavy oak barrels here; much of the flavor seems more influenced by the winemaking than the grape. Lower acidity than other Bordeaux wines, perhaps due to a dominance of Merlot? Nevertheless, a good wine that probably can handle a few more years in the cellar.

Red berries with raspberry and strawberry in the forefront. A light smoky tone with earth and pepper. Juicy and very tasty and refreshing. No noticeable tannins and a well-balanced and easy-drinking wine with a freshness that pairs perfectly with a chicken dish.

Cherries, roses, rose hips, spices, licorice.
A delightful and fresh Barolo with high acidity and beautiful fruit. The tannins are finely polished, offering no resistance but still providing structure. A long finish with plenty of licorice. Overall, a very good wine with excellent aging potential.

Red fruits mixed with some dark fruit in black currants. High acidity and quite sharp tannins, a bit thin on fruit, almost feels a bit austere and not as balanced as 2020. This needs to rest for a few years before the next bottle, hoping for improvement.

Plum, blackberry, black currant, coffee, oak, licorice, olive tapenade, eucalyptus, coconut, vanilla, dark chocolate. Incredibly concentrated explosive fruit accompanied by a well-balanced acidity. So unbelievably complex, dense, and insanely good wine. A lingering aftertaste that lasts forever and numerous flavors emerging gradually. Magical.

Oak, vanilla, blue fruit, dill, herbs, and licorice. Heavy concentrated fruit with a substantial oak presence, yet the oak is finely balanced with plum fruit and tannins. Not extremely high in acidity, and perhaps not a wine for 10 years of aging, but a well-crafted and reasonably priced wine.

Green apples, citrus, mineral, vanilla. Fresh citrus acidity with a slightly oily sensation, a touch of vanilla and honey, and plenty of stone and mineral notes. A fairly long finish with green apples. A really good wine.

Strawberries, raspberries, herbs, earth, licorice with a smoky aroma. Elegant, tight without much tannins, and inspired by Burgundy. Not juicy like some New World wines, but high acidity with a hint of stemminess, featuring lots of herbs and licorice in the long aftertaste. Well-crafted!

Pear, diesel, tropical fruit, and honey. Sharp, yet wonderful acidity, almost a bit effervescent on the tip of the tongue. The sweetness meets the acidity in a really nice way, making it an overall excellent value for money wine.

Blueberry, plum, vanilla, oak, and some herbs. Gentle tannins, sleek and cool fruit with a nicely balanced acidity. Objectively, it might score a bit lower, but right now, this is exactly the grape I want to drink. Wonderfully tasty, especially considering the price.

Lemon, mineral, green apples, lemon zest. Some bitterness despite the absence of oak. Fine and crisp acidity, but a bit thin on fruit. Salinity and mineral notes in the finish. Lacks complexity and not quite worth its price.

Big, bombastic blue fruit with plums leading the way. Eucalyptus, vanilla, oak, and chocolate. The acidity and fruit aren't completely in balance; the fruity sweetness takes over a bit too much for my taste. But if you're looking for a big, fruity barbecue wine, you've found it here. I could probably have guessed Zinfandel blindly given the fruity sweetness, chocolate, and coffee in the aftertaste.

Pineapple, mango, oak, vanilla, and minerals. Fresh fruit with quite a significant influence of oak barrels. Decent acidity. Reminiscent of By Farr's, but with more oak and less acidity. A good wine that should, however, wait a few more years for the next bottle.

Cherries with hints of mature notes. Oak, dust, licorice, and herbs. The tannins are starting to soften and integrate very nicely. This wine is beginning to gain a few points. It might even go up another point when the oak is fully integrated.

Black currant, oak, licorice, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, eucalyptus. Elegant with fine acidity and sandy tannins. Some alcohol warmth in the aftertaste, but certainly not bothersome. Rather, it adds a eucalyptus sensation. Lots of fruit and acidity, but perhaps a bit too prominent oak that could make this wine even better with a few more years in the cellar, but it's already really good now.

Refreshing and crisp with very few tannins, high acidity, and a medium-length finish. Nothing stands out. Not overly complex, but a good wine for the price.

Blueberries, blackberries, oak, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate. Wow. What a wine. Incredibly smooth with concentrated blue fruit and velvety tannins, complemented by amazing acidity and integrated oak notes, finishing long with coffee and dark chocolate. It's sure to improve with aging, but I don't quite understand how. Wonderful and ready to drink now.

Cherry pits, herbs, vanilla, oak, gravel road, dust. Well-balanced and developed. The fruit starts to thin out a bit, and more mature tones take over. Complex with a long finish. Still sharp tannins and nice acidity. Paired excellently with mushroom risotto.

Oak, vanilla, plum, eucalyptus, coffee, chocolate. Fresh dark fruit, large and bombastic with a lot of mint. I miss a bit of acidity after opening, but on day two, it's more elegant. The oak might not be fully integrated yet, but a few more years in the cellar should elevate the wine a couple of notches. A really good wine with substantial tannins. Perfectly pairs with a large barbecue dinner.

Dark fruits, both red and black currants, oak, vanilla, and smoke. Incredibly smooth and elegant wine with perfect acidity and velvety tannins in remarkable harmony, leading to a long finish. Much closer to Bordeaux than Napa. It will likely improve with time, but I find it fantastic already.

Fresh dark fruit with a lot of oak, herbs, and coffee. Substantial tannins and vibrant acidity make it not as smooth as some wines from the southern Rhône, but still juicy and enjoyable, a good wine with excellent qualities.
The oak notes are quite pronounced, which might soften a bit with some aging.

"Pear, yellow apples, grapefruit, and subtle hints of vanilla. It lacks the buttery texture and the acidity isn't very high, and I suspect that much of the grapefruit bitterness comes from the oak barrels. I'll save my next bottle for a couple of years and see how it develops. Not quite worth the price for me at the moment."

Blueberries, oak, vanilla, coffee, herbs, licorice. Pronounced acidity and slightly aggressive tannins. Still, quite complex for a Zinfandel with a long finish, and it's evident that it's a high-quality wine. It probably needs a few more years in the cellar to reach its full potential because currently, it's a bit too intense.

Citrus, apple, white fruit, and oak. Well-balanced and wonderfully delicious. The oak is beautifully integrated, and the acidity is perfect. A few years in the cellar will likely bring out more butter and nutty flavors as it's currently very young and fruity, but still amazingly tasty.

Some cherries, loads of artificial oak with vanilla. Sour, unbalanced, don't know if it's the acidity or tannins pulling at the mouth. Bitter aftertaste and not particularly pleasant at all.

Fresh red and blue fruits, oak, vanilla and spices. An incredibly well-balanced wine. World-class acidity combined with silky smooth tannins in perfect harmony. The oak is beautifully integrated, and the entire package has a nice structure. The high acidity, along with the youthful fruit, leads me to suspect that this wine will age well in the cellar. Top-class.

Immature strawberries, oak, truffle, earth, spices, and stemminess. Some classic pinot noir markers, but with acidity that is slightly too high, along with fine tannins, it has the potential to become good with a few years in the cellar, but currently feels a bit unbalanced.

Petroleum, tropical fruit, pear and pineapple. A slight hint of mineral, an incredibly fine acidity with a sweetness that makes the wine well-balanced without any bitterness whatsoever. The residual sweetness makes it a perfect match for Asian dishes with a bit of spiciness.

Fine tannins with good acidity. In the initial attack, some sweetness also emerges without becoming jammy. Medium-bodied with a fairly long finish. The oak bitterness in the finish is slightly too pronounced for my taste.

Dark fruit, oak, meat, pepper and black olives. Classic northern Rhône on the nose. Fairly decent tannins, but just the right amount of acid and properly adjusted oak but the fruit feels a little too thin and not particularly concentrated. Lasts at least 3-4 more years in the cellar.
