K&L Grand Bordeaux Tasting: This wine feels a little heavy-handed with its lush, intense fruity palate. I wish more was going on here besides that big fruit (though I would not characterize it as jammy). It's a little boring for me.

5/4/24, 10:10 AM - Shutdown is probably another factor accounting for the so-so showing of this wine.

Boozy Brunch (Foreign Cinema & Noe Valley Wine & Spirits): Bright, refreshing, green apple and pear notes on the palate. A little roundness and oiliness, but pretty good acidity. I didn’t detect any oak on the palate. Not the most complex or interesting wine, but pretty good.

4/28/24, 10:56 AM - I don't buy much Northern Rhone white for the same reason: I prefer more cut and acidity. But, this was surprisingly energetic.

October 2023 Loire Dinner (Mathilde - SF): Very interesting to drink this side by side with an '09 Clos Rougeard Le Bourg. While the Bourg was silky, powerful, yet elegant, with a long finish, the Baudry had more complexity and texture at the front end. A little more funk, a little roughness around the edges. Both were fantastic, though the Baudry could probably use some more time to smooth out the edges. Yum.

10/12/23, 8:21 PM - It was very educational for me to have these two wines side by side: it crystallized the styles of the two producers and the differences in terroir. So much fun!

2020 A.J. Adam Hofberg Riesling Kabinett Mosel Saar Ruwer
Day 1: I love the light-footed intensity of this wine. From pop and pour, the residual sugar is nicely balanced by the electric acidity. Juicy fruit and a citric finish. The structure is just really nice and precise. The nose is a little mute, which may be the wine beginning its shutdown phase or just something unique to my bottle.

Day 2: The nose is opening up a little more. The citrus note has subsided and I'm getting more white fruit notes. The lively acidity remains fairly vibrant.

Days 3-4: Remains vibrant and vinous. Doesn't really start winding down until Day 5.

9/7/22, 11:18 AM - Yeah, I really like the wine. But, I'm letting the rest of my bottles sleep.

I'm wondering whether 2020 might be shutting down in general, but I will try a couple of other 2020s in the coming weeks.
