WOW. This is an amazing wine. Violets and cigar box on the nose, and black fruit, leather, and chocolate on the palate. Silky structured tannins say this wine is in a wonderful place to drink now, but will continue to evolve over the next several years. The best Pontet Canet I have tasted.

Dense, rich, and powerful. Huge structure, with tannins that are very smooth. Black and red fruit with a long finish. Still peaking with plenty of time to continue developing, but glad I had it at this point in its evolution. This is the best wine I’ve had thus far for 2024.

Lovely wine. Aromatic violet flowers on the nose. Black and red fruit. Big tannins that indicate she can be laid down for a few more years, but drinking beautifully now. Decanted for about 30 minutes, and had this back to back after a 2010 Figeac. Very different wines, and given the conditions of the evening and the meal at hand (Sri Lankan rice and chicken curry), this wine was better foil and balance for spicy food.

Decanted for an hour. Nose muted red fruit. On the palette - Balanced fine tannins with raspberry and a hint of chocolate. Austere finish. It is in its drinking window. After much thought, I think this wine is in purgatory. It’s neither Young nor developed any tertiary characteristics. I think we drank it at the wrong time in it’s evolutionary journey.

This was a back to back tasting on two consecutive nights. It confirmed my feelings about this wine on the first night. That it lacked gravitas. There’s not much of an finish that lingers on your pallet. Blueberries and blue fruit predominate on the nose and palate, but they disappear quite quickly. I expected more from this wine as the professional critics seem to love it and raved about it. The CellarTracker ratings are more accurate compared to the professional ratings.

Drinking at the right time. Deep straw color. Secondary characteristics are apparent. Stone fruit such as peach and apricot are predominant. Fairly long finish. Just a perfect time to drink this wine. Paired with Jean George’s fennel apple salad and gently poached king salmon.

Austere at first but opens up after 1.5hrs in the decanter. Casis, red fruit on the nose and palate. The wine doesn’t linger giving it a slight sense of emptiness and lacking gravitas. Smooth silky Tannins. A wonderful wine. Ready to drink.

Did not have the opportunity to decant, but right off the bottle the wine made its presence known.
The wine looks brick colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.
It smells like leather, mushroom, rose, strawberry and raspberry.
It tastes like strawberry, raspberry, rose and honeysuckle. The body is medium. The wine has silky texture with a hint of fine receding tannins. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity. Its the perfect time to drink it.

On the nose - violets , cedar, plum.
On the palate- dark fruit. Medium finish

Flabby tannins. Sweet and cloying. Low resolution fruit forward. Difficult to identify descriptors.
