January 1, 2018 - Only bottle of this, so not sure how well its aged. Quite rich, some white pepper and grapefruit on the nose and palate. Mid weight, quite rich, a hint of something slightly medicinal that seems to lift with air. Quite viscous. Lots here, but I'd be interested to have known it in its youth too. Bare ****

January 2, 2015 - Dinner at Sun Wah (Sun Wah BBQ - Chicago, IL): Another distinctively Pichler nose with powerful white pepper/tangerine/melon aromas. The palate had a touch of spike-y somewhat sour fruit, but I enjoyed its floral and melon-driven elements. A funky wine, but it showed the big, powerful, flavor that Pichler can pump out from Kellerberg.

January 2, 2015 - Dinner at Sun Wah (Chicago, IL): Quite spicy on the nose, and maybe some white cherries on the pretty attractive and entrancing nose. But the palate really doesn't do it for me. It's a little like drinking oil. There's a sickly sweet quality to this wine, but on the other hand, there's also a bit of mineral that's quite nice. At the end of the day, it's just too oily and hot for my taste. Not my thing.

January 19, 2014 - Went with Styne's pairing rec for black cod (replacing halibut)/carrot puree/asparagus/pistou from Goin's A.O.C. and it really delivered. Nose had white and pitted fruits, stones, flowers. The palate delivered medium plus fruit that had an oiliness to match the richness of dish, yet had fresh mineral acidity to balance the wine and the cod's fat. This was complex aromatically, by taste and texture. Bordered on elegant.

May 25, 2012 - Absolutely stunning bottle of wine. Wonderful balance and acidity. An interesting hint of pepper on the palate with a clean and lengthy finish. A wine with soul.
