August 1, 2021 - It's been twenty one years since I last tasted this wine and it is still amazing. This has taken on more layers and perhaps a bit more honeyed notes, with baked peaches, apricots and tangerines. Still lifted with excellent acidic structure and phenomenal length. I remember Johannes Leitz telling me (back in 2005) that this was a special wine for him, as it was from his son's birth year. He felt it would age magnificently since it was a very clean harvest. He was right.

October 24, 2014 - Tuesdays with Salil: darn i only had 2 - and they are both gone. :) worth every penny though! I dont agree that this had no botrytis - there is a touch of apricot and fig over the top of orange and marmalade nose. deep citrusy mid - but balanced with a fresh acidic punch. oranges and cream. tropical fruit come in at the finish. Looong finish that manages to stay refreshing. DAMN good. May give and inch or two to the donnhoff in complexity but this is stellar.

October 21, 2014 - Big Game Rieslings (Count's place, NY): A really clean, pure Eiswein with no trace of botrytis here. Lots of bright, focused fruit flavours ranging from fresh mandarin orange and other citrus flavours to riper tropical fruits, accented by intense honeyed and floral elements. Intensely sweet, yet remarkably light on its feet with powerful acidity keeping it so well balanced and precise, finishing very long. This has a sheer drinkability and elegance to it I don't often find in bigger dessert wines, and it's outstanding. Thanks Count.

June 18, 2014 - Riesling Show (Count's Mannor): Dreamy eiswein. hitting all the notes one could hope for. Peachy, creamy, oranges and marmalade, touch of oxidative note that enhances the wine. endless finish... Ahhhh wine. the acidity is there to keep it from cloying. went amazing with sour-cream cake and fruit "sauce" YUM.

November 2, 2012 - No TN just an impression. Big and sweet, a bit heavy handed, this was definitely all about power. We had a lot of wine tonight, so I assume that a fair amount of fatigue has influenced my experience.
