December 14, 2017 - I'm of two minds about this wine. On one hand I loved the combination of the silky texture, quite intense aromas and attractive freshness which shows that Gruner Veltliner is exciting when aged, on the other hand there was a quite dominant canned pineapple (i.e. slightly tainted pineapple) aroma. Meeeh... the group loved it much more than I did.

June 4, 2017 - Big juice. Has lost of baby fat but is still a big boy. 2 h decanted and kaboooooooom !!! What a wine ! All kind of yellow fruits and herbs in concentrated way.Maybe a little sweet , maybe a little out of acid. But a mouthful of wine with a loooong finish with a refreshing bitterness that brings structure and caracter. I liked it more when i was10 y younger. But it is still fascinating to see the ability of aging of the big Groovys of the Wachau !!, I will wait another 5 y for the next. This has many years left. 94+

May 4, 2015 - Typical GV for 2006 - big, bigger, 2006. Even though many of 2006 GVs are big, heavy and to much of everthing, this one is attractive. The nose is a mixture of citrus fruits / lemon peels, apple and apricots. It fills the mouth well right from the start, the texture is very supple and soft, highly concentrated, the alcohol is well integrated and the acidity
sufficient. Nice length. Normaly I prefer leaner GVs, but this one is nice. Some more years to go.

February 14, 2015 - Crashing at Salil's House: i am starting to think i prefer lighter gruners and bigger rieslings from Pichler. to me - this is a BIG wine and, with all its attractive qualities, doesnt hit that note of mineral and "green" edge i was hoping to find. Nose is of stone and lemon curd, with apricots, peaches and overall orchard fruit hitting every corner of the mouth. but it is heavy and doesnt provide the respite from the power. Not that one feels the alcohol on the finish - but you can almost sense it. very good wine - just not my cup of gruner

February 12, 2015 - Powerhouse of a GV; incredibly concentrated with palate-staining intensity, and layers of ripe fruit, higher toned green herbal and pea notes, and the start of maturing smoky elements all coming together on a frame that's quite large scaled, but very well balanced. The 14+% alcohol doesn't make itself felt at all, even as the wine warms up a little towards room temperature, and there's no shortage of acidity here to keep it very precise and balanced.
