January 3, 2022 - Drank on Christmas so was paying more attention to family. Smooth red fruits and very nice balance. A 2005 that is drinking very nicely. Bottle was finished quickly.

July 5, 2017 - Subtle and seductive. Floral nose that turns meaty with air. Wild red berries with savory undertones -- soy and mushroom. A hint of cola, a hint of mint. Lots going on here. Strong finish of tangy red fruit with pronounced tannins. Good promise for aging.

November 8, 2014 - Blind tasting for my guest. Dark hue for a pinot. Nose of mature and dry prunes, cherrie nut and sap. Mouth sweat and strongly structured for this region, with tannins and lively acidity. Ending quite long on porto and discrete orange peal bitterness. A surprinsing rhone style. quite disturbing for blind tasters. excellent and still to young 91-93

November 8, 2014 - Popped and poured. Blind tasted and initially guessed Burgundy but the closed nose and austere style led me away to the Loire and beyond...
Young dark ruby color seemed to dense for Burgundy. Resinous, woody nose with some heat. Initially very discrete, austere and tense on the palate with orange peel acidity and lacking fruit other than some red berry notes. However, it did open up over 2 hours to give more oaky sweetness with a bitter sweet tobacco finale and darker fruit. Still a baby - wait another 5 years at least!

COLOR: Velvety garnet-ruby with pale ruby rim
NOTE: The initial stink disappeared after 3 hours and was replaced by a nice candied red cherry/pomagranate/raspberry nose, little hints of smoke and cream. Mouth is medium+ weight, totally red berry fruit-driven, with pungent pomagranate seeds, watermelon, even a bit of Meyer lemon juice. Very acidic but barely pulls it back to make it inviting instead of offensive. Finish is loads of underripe raspberry and pomagranate, so you need food to pair it up or this is disappointing. Give it a couple more years and see what happens.

(Gambal Alex Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes) Deep cherry-red colour. The nose is a lovely layered effort with faintly perfumed top-notes and a soft core of dark fruit. In the mouth there is well submerged structure but it’s under lovely concentrated and relatively deep fruit that widens in the mid-palate before impressively lingering in the finish. Plenty of dry extract here that will reward patience.
