February 9, 2018 - This is the classic example of Beaujolais that turns to Burgundy with age. The nose is floral, almost lime like, with beetroot flavors. Little Beaujolais acidity. A little short and even a bit hot on the finish, but still nice and worth aging to this point, but I would drink now.

August 29, 2012 - For whatever reasons, this bottle was not nearly the bottle the previous one was. Could be bottle variation or time. My suspicion is the second, although tarheel17's two bottles two months apart suggests inconsistency in the bottle.

I do not have any more, so this difference will remain one of life's great mysteries for me.

February 28, 2011 - this bottle was much more exciting than the previous one, opened a mere 2 months ago (perhaps that one was barely tainted by TCA, who knows. I'm not very sensitive to it).The nose was a bit simple and grape-juicey, with the barest hint of mineral. The palate, however, exhibited a very finely textured mouthful, with really delicious stone and river rock complemented by tart, drying cranberry, some familiar citrus, and then sweet plum to round it out. Very nice. I take back all the nasty things I said about this 86er and make it an 89er..and a definite re-buy, if available.

    (D. Coquelet Chiroubles Vieilles Vignes) This is a killer bottle of Chiroubles and an absolute home run for Georges Descombes son who makes this wine. The vines are some of the same that go into the Descombes Chiroubles VV. The nose was meaty, lightly floral, minerally, gamey and earthy. Great c
