Community Tasting Notes 4

August 15, 2017 - Served blind. For a '07, this still had a rather tannic spine to it, with quite some structure. Nose had a floral hue but the rather hard/biting palate had me thinking elsewhere rather than Chambolle. This may get better with cellar time. Re-visit in a few years...

October 12, 2016 - Lean and hard, with firm and borderline tough tannins. Some dark, plummy aromas came out with some hard swirling in the glass, along with an odd mintiness. I'm not sure if this is in a weird place now, but surprising how tough this was. Not much fun to drink tonight.

February 3, 2015 - (Pizza and Wine with a Friend): Wine kept in Arrowine’s cellar since release, then in mine for a few days. Decanted five hours before drinking. When first opened, it was as hard as a rock of crystallized tartaric acid and had no charm.

Five hours after, tasting notes are as follows. Color garnet with garnet edges. Nose is light, a little fruit, almost closed. Taste is medium light, has some fruit and character, austere, a bit too acidic, some bitterness, despite that a little round. Aftertaste is tart, bitter, and long. Rating <>+ (72).

1 hour later: Nose fruity, light, ¼ open, nice. Tastes more fruity, nice pastel flavors, much less acidic, bitterness gone. Aftertaste pleasant, soft, medium length. New rating G (83).

2 days later after being pumped out and kept in the refrigerator: A little more pleasant, much more character. Still none of that vaunted Barthod silkiness. If I had another bottle,I’d try it again in four years.

September 19, 2010 - Mistral French Bistro Dinner with Allen Meadows (Vancouver, BC): Huge and youthful nose of ripe pinot fruit with cinnamon and hints of stewed meat. There’s also some oak on the nose but it’s well integrated. This is the lightest of the three red in this flight but offers great depth. Solid structure all around with medium acidity and tannins and a lengthy finish. Needs 5 years. Excellent. 90+
