Community Tasting Note

Tuesday, August 11, 2020 - It was best when first opened showing a lot of terroir with flavors of dark earthy black fruits and sweet gravel. Very supple with a silky mouthfeel and minimal acidity which leads to an already complex finish with notes of Asian spices and dark forest. It's a very nice drink but it got more and more boring in a decanter and I chose not to finish the bottle which is a very bad sign for me with a youngish second growth. It just lacks that freshness and grip that keeps me going back for more in a top Bordeaux and does not bode well for the future. 90-

8/11/2020 5:28:00 PM - Someone once told me there are no great vintages, only great bottles....I have been enamored with this '03 BDX vintage for a while now and had not a single disappointing bottle but others on here have reported some of these '03 Cos that have not been in a good place. I truly suspect there are just some lesser bottles out there. I have 2-3 left and will try one soon.

8/12/2020 8:16:00 AM - Ericsson....why not? What is your definition of BDX? St. Estephe's strength density, and power is just very different than say the softness of Margaux, no? But they are still both BDX....
